Gunny went to church today

Our church had the blessing of the Animals today and Gunner got to go. He was a verra good boi. He didnt jump on the rector. Didn't start anything with the Chihuahua that was growling at him. Took his blessing and behaved. He even stood at the appropriate times. He got a goodie for behaving so well. Look at how happy and smily he is.

[FO]A Black Cat by Bent Creek

I finished my 2 versions of A Black Cat by Bent Creek. I had a black cat and a ginger tabby and they were my "Halloween cats". These will go on where we have their urns so they get to be a part of Spooky Season. Stitched on 28 PtP Yule. The Black one used the right colors. The yellow one was done using Weeks Amber for the cat, CC Dandelion Stem for the pumpkin and Fallen Leaves for the collar because my guy always looked fashionable. I love how they turned out.

Dollar General Profusion

DG has Profusion now. I went in for something else, and they had several nice palettes, setting powder and some lip and blush products. I think Profusion is highly slept on and I like that it will be there. Letting anyone who feels the same know.

When you are sick and your Boxer decides to be your nurse

I have a migraine today. Ticky decided to be my nurse. He is a terrible nurse. He decided what I truly needed was to be sat on with his full body weight. He told me if I dont like his treatment plan, don't get sick. Lol

[FO] Ghost Shadow

Pretty quick stitch for me. I made a few alteration to keep a cute vibe. The shadow is in half stitch, not full, and I took a skull off the grass because it made him look like Predator, not a cutie. I love him so much. I will make a pillow finish out of him. Pattern is by Nathnolu on Etsy.

[CHAT] how big is your stash

I have been dealing with mine lately and it is . . . A lot. 7 or 8 binders of Etsy charts. Under our bed is all stash, my garage is a quarter my stash. I know its a lot. One of my projects is go through the bins and get rid of things that I will not stitch and otherwise organize it all, as it is unwieldy and I cant stitch all of this.

I helped distribute a friend's stash when she passed and hers filled a room--to the point I could not fit it all in the back of my SUV, which I regret. I took it to stitching group and tried to rehome as much as I could. That seems to be the norm for stash, but I dont know.

What are your thoughts.

What do you do when they're afraid of thunder

My large bulldog/Boxer mix has developed a fear of thunderstorms in the last month or so. It thundered on and off yesterday, all day, and he actually ended up crawling under our bed to hide. Otherwise, he paces around the house and pants and drools, then is fine after it passes. He's always been a little shy and not confident, but he's never had an incident to be afraid of storms

We're trying to model good behavior for him. We just keep going about what we are doing. We reassure him its OK. He has his kennel open so he can go in there. I dont want to go the sedative route with him because of the bulldog genes and the breathing issues rhat might result. None of my other dogs have been like this, so I dont know what else to do that won't make his hesitation worse.

Any ideas?

[FO] a finish

A Tropical Heart by Sekas and Company. It is an older chart, so I had to sub out the green, as Watercolours seem to have discontinued that one. I love the specialty stitches so much. I admit to petting this WIP a lot, LOL

Boxers at Night

Our boys are 3 1/2 and we decided they don't have to sleep in the kennels at night anymore. They are figuring it out. They enjoy sleeping on our bed, or at the foot of the bed, but they also keep roaming around the house at all hours of the night too. They seem to be checking on my kids. Our previous dogs always settled in for the night and went to sleep. I can maybe remember one late night altercation with my little dog and a cat because my little guy slept on a pillow next to my head and the cat got too close to me for his liking--they both loved me. Other than that, everyone slept. I know Boxers love their family, so is this the norm or are they just figuring out their new freedom. What do your Boxers do?

For the All Creatures Great and Small fans

I was tidying up today and wanted to share this with you. I am a huge James Herriott fan, and found this at a Goodwill while looking for baby clothes for my first kid 14 years ago. I didn't inspect it then, but a few years later, opened it to see it was signed. Its now one of my really cool favorite things. I probably paid $2 for it and it's one I won't get rid of. He must have done a book tour--there are other copies of this book for sale, some with this book plate. I thought someone might get a kick out of it.

This was a bit ominous. We watched it roll over the mountains and then raced back home to Carroll. It was such a wierd storm.

A two-fer my husband grew

Two little juicy ones for y'all. No gloves, no dabbing, just popping. I briefly mourned it was not in his tattoo--tattoozits are my favorite. But he worked hard to grow these!

Me again. Updating.

We moved back in. It's pretty chaotic still.

We decided to take this time to fix a lot of the things that were wrong in the house and to freshen it up--potentially to sell the house, NGL. It's adding to the mess of the pile of boxes and bags, but I am trying to stay positive.

I was sick this weekend, but I did manage to put 7 boxes of books back on my bookshelf. I am making the rule for myself that the books that go on the shelf are the ones that I have not read, at least for now. I have my special books on top, including my vintage Albert Payson Terhune collie book collection.

It feels good to see things on the shelf.
