Galaxy XR vs Quest Pro vs Quest 3 - Micro-OLED vs Mini-LED vs LCD (Through The Lens)
I recently put together a direct through-the-lens comparison between the Samsung Galaxy XR, Quest Pro and Quest 3, focusing primarily to display technologies rather than the headsets themselves.
• Galaxy XR = Micro-OLED
• Quest Pro = Mini-LED
• Quest 3 = LCD
All footage was recorded through the lenses using a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra with no AI enhancement, sharpening, colour correction or post-processing applied.
SteamVR resolution was set identically across all three headsets (3460 × 3708 per eye) to keep the comparison as fair as possible.
One thing I found particularly interesting is that the increase in perceived detail isn't just about resolution. Most people naturally expect higher resolution to be the biggest factor, but after spending time with all three displays I found contrast and black levels often have just as much impact on how much detail you can actually see.
In my experience, the Galaxy XR's Micro-OLED display produces the deepest blacks, strongest contrast and most convincing sense of depth. The Quest Pro's Mini-LED display still holds up remarkably well and gets closer to Micro-OLED than many people might expect, while the Quest 3 remains impressive for it's price but has very noticeably weaker black levels and colour depth.
Curious to hear what other Galaxy XR owners think after using Micro-OLED compared to LCD or Mini-LED headsets?
