Can subversive movies still be made?
I watched The Shooter with Mark Wahlberg recently and was surprised at the leftist subtext--a Montana senator sends military contractors to Africa to massacre a village to eliminate opposition to an oil pipeline. Is this type of plot still allowed in movies? I can't imagine Fight Club, with workers turning against the elite and blowing up credit bureaus, being made today. It seems like it's all mindless entertainment or government propaganda (e.g. Zero Dark Thirty).
