Whole House Audio - add one more zone?

Hi all, I'm about to do some rough-in work on a remodel. Currently I have planned for 8 zones of whole house audio. But I'd really like to add another to make it 9 zones. There is an open floor plan kitchen/dining area, and I considered combining them into one zone with one speaker in the kitchen and one speaker in the dining area -- but there are audiophile reasons not to do that. I'd prefer to have a separate zone in the dining area -- which would be a 9th zone.

Snap's Episode Response Amplifier has a 16 channel (8 zone) model. Is there going to be a way for me to incorporate a 9th zone relatively simply into Control4 with some additional amplifier? If not, I won't run speaker wire into the dining area.

Radio Ra3 Powpack question

Hello, I'm currently working on a remodel including upgrading to Radio Ra3 and retrofitting most lights onto Sunnata dimmers or switches.

I have one conundrum I'm trying to solve. The situation is this: I am installing two bedside sconces (reading lights, essentially). These will have individual on/off control on the fixtures themselves. Nice to be able to reach up out of bed and manually control. However, I would also like to be able to have smart control of these fixtures ("all off" via touchscreen or keypad or phone, and maybe some sunset timing). Adding a sunnata dimmer or switch across the room seems like both overkill and a potential obstacle to ease-of-use. For instance, you reach up to turn your light on, but because the switch across the room is off, there's no power to the fixture and you have to get up out of bed.

How would you best address this situation? It seems a hidden Powpack is another option (Radio ra3 compatible?)

Apple unveiled HomeOS today at WWDC

I think Snap and others need to open up their ecosystems sooner rather than later. They have about six months before developers, who as of today have access to HomeOS development kits, will have a complete line of apps available for the HomePad and other devices launching in the fall.

The HomePad is going to be the killer piece of hardware that launches smart home technology into the stratosphere of widespread adoption. Gemini-powered Siri. Untethered Facetime on every screen. It is the closest thing to “Jarvis” American homes will have yet seen. Snap, Crestron, RTi, etc. are on the verge of becoming the next blackberrys if they don’t adapt immediately.

For the first time, high end homebuyers are going to be unsatisfied by EVERYTHING that isn’t the Apple product.

Is there a term in pinball for when a ball goes "wonky"?

You know when a ball is coming down the playfield and then all of a sudden it meanders off course by like half an inch, seemingly out of nowhere? Like it's defying the laws of physics. I've always assumed that was some sort of divot or imperfection in the playfield or ball that temporarily knocks the ball off course, but I'm seeing them everywhere in my brand new Medieval Madness Merlin edition.

I'd like to know how to describe the phenomenon. Is there a word for it?

Rivian R1S rattling like crazy overhead - warranty won’t cover

Ever heard of the “adjustment limited warranty”? Brought my 18 month old R1S into the service center this morning because it’s rattling overhead. Sounds like a light rain or white noise or crinkling or something every time I go over 25 mph. Really irritating.

Service advisor in Burbank kindly lets me know that my “adjustment“ warranty expired after 12 months. So any rattling from the cheap plastic foam they use won’t be covered.

This is literally an “I’m not keeping this car” issue.
