Sanekana Week Day 4: Meeting the Parents

Sanemi is so nervous that he just blurted out how he's very much in love with Kanae in front of her parents. Plus, when he goes fishing with Papa Kochou, he gets nervous again and uses the time he almost got eaten by a fish as an icebreaker.

S5EP22: Every Smallville Finale Episode Is Crazier Than The Last

I just finished watching Vessel and this episode is genuinely intriguing from the start till the end. Watching things quickly went from 10 to 100 was anxiety inducing and finally seeing Clark in space at the end had me shocked.

This makes feel kinda excited for the next season even though I heard the Lex-Lana-Clark love triangle will just be even worse in season 6.

S5EP12: Interesting That Lois Gave Advice to Both Lana & Chloe After They Found Out About Clark

I recently made a post about Lois's helpful advice to Chloe after Chloe found out about Clark's powers because of Alicia.

I just finished watching Reckoning and I was surprised to see Lois giving advice to Lana this time. It's one of the reasons Lana was able to accept Clark's secret quite quickly.

And can I just add that >!Jonathan's death!< made me cry? I already knew it was going to happen. I just don't think Smallville would feel the same without him.

Twitter Web Version Can't Be Opened

Everytime I tried to open Twitter on Chrome, it just shuts down. There are some reasons why I prefer to use the twitter web version so I'm kinda dejected if I have to rely on the app version 100% now.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

S4EP12. I Hated What Alicia Did Here But I Appreciate Lois's Advice

Alicia was literally claiming she wouldn't tell anyone about Clark's secret just an episode ago but then she revealed his secret to Chloe with the intent for Chloe to write an article about it. Despite that, I couldn't be angry at Alicia since she died right after this scene and she didn't even get a proper closure with Clark.

Lois's advice to Chloe was great and I think it helped Chloe a lot in deciding to support Clark while pretending she didn't know about his secret.

S3EP18: I Feel Bad For Both Lex & Pete Here

I think this is the rare time where we see Lex being vulnerable and honest. After all the stuff that happened with Lionel, Lex still craves for his father's love.

Pete is also a great friend this episode. He rather exposed his feelings for Chloe than accidentally revealing Clark's secret. Clark's face is pretty funny when Pete suddenly kissed Chloe.

This is the first time I was truly annoyed with Chloe's behaviour. There were so many lines that she crossed when she kept asking questions to other people, knowing full well they couldn't lie to her. And I was very happy when Lana said she's going to Paris. I feel like this is what her character needs. Clark himself and the story can benefit having her out of the picture too.

S3EP11: I Got So Excited When Chloe Mentioned Lois

I didn't expect at all that Lois Lane was already teased and namedropped in Season 3. I heard a lot of good things about her appearance in Season 4, so I can't wait to see her in this show.

Off topic, but I also find Lana & Adam's chemistry more natural & romantic than Clark & Lana. I got spoiled when I searched for Adam's name on Google, though. However, I'm still enjoying their scenes together and I try not to put the spoiler I saw on my mind while I was watching them.

S3EP8: Shattered. An Insane Episode.

I'm currently watching Smallville for the first time and I just finished Shattered. God, I was on the edge of my seat while watching it because I didn't know who was actually telling the truth. Till the end, I wasn't sure if Lionel >!killed his own grandparents or not.!< Lionel Luthor is such a top-notch gaslighter and manipulator. I was pitying both Lex and Clark.

Also, I'm very much enjoying Season 3. Season 1 & 2 were okay but some episodes are kinda boring. So far, season 3 has been pretty gripping. I heard the next seasons are even better.

Fun Fact, 29th July is Sanekana Day in Japan

29th July was the date Chapter 168 was officially released. In this chapter, the readers got to see Sanemi & Kanae together in multiple panels for the first time. On top of that, we saw how Kanae was worried for Sanemi and even touched his arm. Because of that, the sanekana fans in Japan considered 29th July as Sanekana Day.

Fyi, other ships also have their special respective day! Giyushino Day is on February 16 and there were even billboards of them in China as part of the celebration.

This post explains better why sanekana fans in Japan celebrated 29th July as Sanekana Day: https://x.com/i/status/1950131891857756339

I Wish More People Will Talk About This

In the novel Signs of the Wind, we got to see that Sanemi knew about Kanae's backstory. Not just a summarised version but he even knew that she was saved by the Stone Pillar. If you read the novel, then you would know that Sanemi didn't even know Masachika had a younger brother. Sanemi never seems to be the type to care or remember about others' past. But here, he knew of Kanae's past and mind you, this was when he was still pushing Masachika away.

The characters in kny don't really share their backstories to others and this includes the romantic pairings. It made sense because their past was painful. This is perhaps the only rare instance where it's revealed that a character knew about another's past before becoming a demon slayer. So, how did Sanemi know about Kanae's past? Did he hear it directly from her or from someone else?

On top of that, Sanemi thought he could barely imagine Kanae's trauma. Sanemi who had an abusive father, killed his own mother that turned into a demon, was called a murderer by his own younger brother and lost all of his family members except for Genya. Yet, he thought Kanae's trauma was so bad that it's almost unimaginable. Sanemi's character always never cared for himself but he actually can't stand the ones he loved being in pain.

Another thing is him contemplating about Kanae's decision to bring Shinobu to the corps. I honestly think if it was any other person, Sanemi would call him or her as foolish. Yet, with Kanae, he tried to understand her and even put himself in her shoes. And what word did he use to describe Kanae's decision? Unfathomable. Just unfathomable, not foolish or wrong. He never made her decision as a blameworthy one.

Some people claimed Sanemi & Kanae would not work as a couple because of their clashing differences. But I beg to differ. These differences of them as a pairing is actually the best thing about the ship because they actually challenge each others' views and make them think a lot about the decisions they have been making. Just like how we saw Sanemi being empathetic towards Kanae's decision here, their differences would actually add more depth to their characters.

Anyway, I actually love to talk more about the novel. But I think I will stop here because I already yapped so much.
