Rebalancing Needed ?

With the new expansion looming in the distance, I think now is a good time to assess the state of the game.

Specifically Nightmare Mode and how certain characters or playstyles struggle to varying degrees.

I think we can all agree that the Engineer is just a bad time on either map. Structures as a whole really suffer from the inflated enemy stats, and I find it kind of bizarre that Wrenches still don't scale off Engineering. At least for the Engineer specifically, I think their passive should be doubled to +100% Engineering modifications, because the only other option would be to have Damage % apply to structures and that would have much more dire, far-reaching consequences. Changing Improved Tools to a Tier 2 item would also help tremendously.

The Apprentice is another character who IMO struggles quite badly despite otherwise being one of the strongest characters in the roster due to all the free damage. Mitigating the health loss on D5 is pretty doable, possibly even too easy but on Nightmare mode you really feel it.

And then there's characters like The Baby and Technomage who have potentially insane late game scaling but are crippled by the increased level up requirements. I've never been a fan of that to begin with and feel it should be removed from the game.

You can overcome an XP gain penalty as some characters have. There's nothing you can do about the baseline XP needed to level up being increased and increasing exponentially with every level up.

As for things I would love to see added or changed, I think the Scope should be changed to a Tier 3 Unique item that adds Range scaling to your weapons. It's a pretty garbage item as is that even most ranged builds avoid because of the attack speed penalty and high cost.

I would really love to see a Pyromancer that scales burning damage with their passive, and burning damage changed to finally stack (or at least an item that allows it to) and maybe even a new Tier 4 item that allows burning to Crit.

It would be neat to have a weapon that scales off Regeneration since we have at least one for every other defensive stat.

And last but not least, a custom game option of some kind similar to what Slay the Spire had, where you can add all kinds of stipulations both positive and negative and create customized runs, like starting off with a random Tier 3-4 item or Pufferfish enemies only etc.

Gacha QoL suggestions

So I was thinking, the only other Gacha I really played seriously for a long time was Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, which by all accounts was incredibly generous - perhaps to a fault.

But thinking back to how endgame progression was in the later years of that game, there are some lessons I feel would apply quite well to Endfield without cutting too deep into Hypergryph's bottom line - maybe even helping it by encouraging more people to play.

So the TL;DR version is in DFFOO, you basically only pulled for weapons, as characters would be unlocked through the MSQ but also by getting a copy of any one of their weapons. Raising their skills required obtaining and basically maxing the potential on each one.

IIRC in the early years of the game, that meant pulling for extra copies. But eventually they added a resource called Power Stones, which could be used as a substitution. This was typically much slower because it took a fair amount of them and access to them was naturally limited, but it meant that F2P players could reasonably max out at least a few characters within a reasonable time frame you were smart with resources.

So how could this approach be applied to Endfield? Simple, starting with the new zone after Wuling, I propose the devs give us a certain amount of an equivalent resource that can be obtained through the stock exchange with regional bills from the 3rd zone on a weekly basis for weapons, and maybe include ones for Operators as rewards for clearing the hardest difficulty of events. I think Arsenal tokens should also be obtainable this way again with a weekly cap.

This accomplishes several things - first and foremost, it gives F2P players like myself an actual shot and maxing out our favorite operators, but not enough to bling everyone.

But it also gives everyone a real reason to engage with and optimize their factories and do other activities that reward stock bills.

I won't pretend to know what the exact figures ought to be, that's up to Hypergryph anyway but I strongly believe that a system like this would be greatly beneficial to community and make Endfield a much more competitive option against Genshin and others by enticing people who may have been hesitant or even put off by the current rates.

And let's be real, they genuinely do not give us enough Arsenal tickets. I think the odds of getting operators is incredibly lenient and they aren't operating a charity here, but it does feel bad to pull a favorite and then get hosed trying to obtain their weapon.

Thoughts?

Love where the story is going! Post MSQ discussion (spoiler warning)

So first things, obviously if you haven't finished the current MSQ turn back now. Don't wanna ruin it for anyone here just looking for a friendly discussion.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

I freaking knew Nefarith was alive, called it! And it looks like The Observers are also potentially on the way - what else would end all life as Adarashir said but them? The Exiles are certainly a problem, but they aren't a civilization ending threat.

Now just waiting for confirmation that the Endmin is also a precursor like the Doc as I have suspected for a while now (they're definitely suggesting it but not outright saying it).

What do you guys think though? I don't think Ardashir is dead either, though Nef definitely put the hurt on him oof. Wonder what region will be next.

About the pacing of future updates (asking devs if possible?)

Dunno if anyone at Riot reads this sub Reddit, hopefully they do but anyways here's my question/concern.

We are all well aware by now that the team has struggled to make LoR profitable, hence the shift away from traditional PvP to focus on TPoC.

However, I think it's fair to say that many of us are saddened at how much development has slowed down over the last several updates. It used to be that we got one brand new champion, and then one of the existing ones would get their updated constellation.

Now it's simply just the one champ a month, regardless of they are new or updating an existing one. This is particularly worrisome as many of the older champions had fun kits that simply are no longer viable due to the power creep of the game and a lack of an updated constellation.

Can we ever hope to see more than one champ updated a month, or are we simply stuck waiting seemingly an eternity for the whole roster to get brought up to date? Not trying to be a jerk or even demanding that you guys change things, I would simply like to know if it is at all possible as I quite miss running Teemo, Garen and Gnar to name a few.

Would also love to see Poppy, Ezrael and Katarina eventually make their way in and genuinely quite happy about Hecarim as he was also on my wish list previously.

Still a loyal fan regardless, just kinda hoping we might get to see more of our favorites made available before EoS lol.

DZ Hunters are insane

Just took my first foray into the new seasonal DZ, went as expected for the most part, until I went to extract.

Now I am no stranger to dealing with Hunters, been playing since Div 1 closed beta, absolutely LOVED Survival DLC etc.

I don't have any prototype gear yet, but my Core Strength build is pretty solid.

Got absolutely destroyed, all my armor popped instantly and the guys around me didn't last much longer. Yes Hunters have always been dangerous as they should be, but I can't help feeling like maybe these ones are a bit overtuned ? Am I the only one ?

Improved Tools Tag Change

IMO, I really think they should remove the Structure tag from this item and change it to Engineering.

This would allow it to be found by The Builder, which would be a big QoL upgrade for the character. It really ought to be changed to a tier 2 item as well, just as Pile of Books was.

Strange book can stay at T3 because that's a big scaling change but Improved Tools is still a bit too rare and niche I find.
