When Heath Ledger died, Perez Hilton apparently made t-shirts that said “Why couldn’t it be Britney?”

Statement from Perez’s family about the livestream incident also included.

EDIT: I’m not stating an opinion by posting this. He made some t-shirts about Britney, which I wasn’t aware of and thought was interesting. I also didn’t know his family was present for the beginning of the livestream.

If the monoculture that existed in the early 2000s still existed today, who would be the most popular solo female pop performer?

In the early 2000s, we had a limited selection of pop acts that were played on the radio, featured on TRL and awards shows, heavily promoted by labels, etc. There was no social media or streaming services. It was Britney and Christina (with Jessica, Mandy, Willa Ford, and others in the background). Britney arguably became the most popular and successful performer, so who do you think it would be today?
