Need help to choose between job or UPSC

Background: Dual degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) Electrical Engineer, Tier 1 college, 2024 grad.

Started UPSC prep in Jan 2023 with VisionIAS. Since 2024 I've attempted 3 prelims and failed all three.

2024: Genuinely prepared but failed — no mock tests, no current affairs, still had a "cram right before the exam" college mindset. Joined a semiconductor company in July 2024 via PPO (good salary).

At the job: Told my parents I'd study alongside work, but I didn't study at all and instead tried to switch jobs. That backfired — I'd forgotten my engineering basics after 1.5 years of UPSC, so I couldn't even get interviews.

2025: Prepared barely a month, failed again. Then I lied to my parents that I'd cleared mains. They got suspicious, and I doubled down — claimed it was an error on UPSC's side.

2025 (latest): Eventually started getting job interviews but no offers, so I stopped and went back to prelims prep from March. Failed again. Before the result, my parents discovered the full truth. I panicked and ran away from home.

I've since returned. They want me to quit UPSC and focus on a job. I now carry heavy guilt and want to crack UPSC to make them happy.

The real problem: Beyond the status and perks, I don't actually want the IAS/IPS life. I respect that they serve society more than I could in a private job, but the reward feels low relative to the effort. Private jobs offer more money, freedom, and an exit option whenever I want one.

I'm scared and lost. Should I commit to my career and climb in the private sector, or chase a good UPSC rank to make my parents happy?

Please give me your cold, honest advice — no sympathy.

Please help me with this question

Can somebody explain why 2 and 4 are correct, like how does govt debt linked to rise in interest rates, and in oil price hike shouldn't banks reduce interest rates to cover higher import costs?
