Random thing I've associated since I was a kid: Significant Other and Kids Next Door

Growing up, the Limp Bizkit Significant Other artwork always reminded me of Codename: Kids Next Door and I have no idea if anyone else sees it lol.

Something about the super baggy clothes, giant shoes, exaggerated proportions and especially the way the KND characters moved always made me associate the two. Those quick, exaggerated hand and arm movements always reminded me of the poses on the album cover.

I've always wondered if there's actually a name for this kind of late 90s/early 2000s art style that they were both pulling from, or if my brain just decided these two things belonged together when I was a kid lmao.

I threw the Significant Other guy into a KND picture just to see how out of place he'd look.

DAE think about the ‘space’ where buildings used to exist?

Does anyone else think about places that don't physically exist anymore like this?

With the 25th anniversary of 9/11 coming up, I've been looking at old pictures of the Twin Towers and I keep having this weird thought that's difficult to put into words.

The buildings obviously aren't there anymore, but the actual space their rooms occupied still is.

Like, if someone's office was on the 90th floor, the exact point in space where their desk and chair were is still up there. It's just open sky now. If you could somehow hover at the exact coordinates where they used to sit, you'd basically have the same viewpoint they had looking out their window every day. The window is gone, but the view from the window isn't.

It's almost like noclipping in a video game after a structure disappears and staying exactly where a room used to be. You can imagine the walls, floors, desks and people around you even though you're now floating in empty space.

I get a weird feeling looking at the empty sky above the WTC site and imagining all those invisible floors stacked on top of each other, with people going about completely normal workdays there 25+ years ago.

It reminds me of liminal spaces, except instead of an abandoned place, it's a place that literally doesn't physically exist anymore while the space it occupied still does.

Does anyone else ever think about places this way? Is there actually a name for this?

How do you overcome anticipatory anxiety when reading in a group?

I was in a book club, and we were doing a "popcorn" reading format where each person chooses the next reader after they've finished their section.

While waiting for my turn, my heart started to race in anticipation of being called. I got called and my heart raced more, I started to read and my voice was super shaky and i feel like I could not longer read or comprehend what was on the paper.

I also had trouble speaking up during the discussion after we read. Like I knew what I wanted to say but then I didn't want to speak up because the spotlight would be on me. and I feared I would get lost or my voice would start to shake again.

Are there any tricks to overcome this? What has worked for you?
