What is the situation on finding employment in Canada. I'm not looking for whether or not the employment market is good or bad as I know the answers.

I hear and see videos online of people securing work before arriving

1. How is this legal or possible without work permit issued

2. Do some employers take POE letter as being enough to be hired?

OPTION 1 - FLY IN AT END OF OCT & ACTIVATE VISA, GET SIN NO. ACTIVATE BANK ACCOUNT AND START TO BUILD CREDIT BEFORE MY INTENDED FULL MOVE ON JAN 17TH 2027

OPTION 2 - JUST WAIT UNTIL JAN 17TH TO DO IT ALL

I understand my visa starts from date of entry, however, would it be wise to build a small credit history for 2 months before arriving? Will this have any benefit for me rather than just waiting until January?

Can I activate my work permit at the border in Nov 2026,

Then fly back home after spending 7 days in TO. I understand my work permit begins on activation and does not pause when I leave.

What is the process for entering the country again? Do I need an ETA do I need to present docs again?

It was my plan to head to Toronto in Jan 2027, with about $18,000 to $20,000 but based on my current salary and expenses here in UK at moment, this might be a little hard to achieve

What in everyone's opinions is a good amount to head over with? I won't have work lined up initially or accommodation. I do uber here in the UK, so if worst comes to the worst, I can do uber driving in Toronto, until I find professional employment related to my degree

What I recommend - If from the UK - pay for fast track ACRO processing and get certificcate before submitting application it costs £135 and you will get the certificate in 48 hours instead of 6 weeks.

○ Once in the temp Air BN'B, how long have people found it took to get a lease on a condo or appt in Toronto......

○ I have bad credit in the UK, I know Credit sharing from the UK does not transfer to Canada, so how have people navigated this hurdle? ......

○ A landlord I spoke with in TO via email, said he would be hesitant to rent to a newcomer with no current employment, even with 3-6 months upfront. Has anyone faced this challenge, and if so what was your outcome?

I am starting the process of preparing my CV and resume for the canadian financial services market.

I am wondering which are the best qualifications to begin studying for and obtaining so that I can be as attractive as possible to employers in Toronto.

I hear people say - CSC is not worth studying for etc. I need help and advice on which qualifications would make employers notice me etc.

I have experience in Financial planning in the UK, however, the system is completely different and i'd need to start over again.

Can anyone recommend qualidications for

1. Becoming an Investment Manager (Entry level)

2. Wealth Management back office or middle office roles

3. Financial planning or operational roles

○ SOCIAL ASPECT - I am wanting an area that enables socialization, near good bars, sports clubs etc

○ GROCERIES - Nearby supermarket or grocery stores

○ PARKING - If possible, on-street or residental parking

● E-sim providers - I wish to apply for jobs in Canada from the UK, however, from what I hear its easier for employers and recruitment agencies to call you if you have a canadian mobile/cell number already. Can you send links to sites I can do this?

● Rentals - I have currently 6 months rent saved in CAD and as I will not have credit or at this stage (Payslips or contract of employment), how do people navigate this hurdle?

● Credit score - My Uk credit score becomes irrelevant, so how have people built up credit along the way

Hi, I am heading to Toronto for first time from the UK and I can't find an Air BnB or hotel near downtown, old toronto etc for cheaper than £1,170 for four nights $2,209 (22nd July).

I can however find good, reputable hotels for 50% less £577 $****£1081 in North York. I don't mind getting an uber to downtown for sightseeing etc or if there are any Metro lines nearby.

Any help is appreciated
