It is finished... (Until a FRT exists for the Espada)

The suppressor got approved yesterday.
It's official, I have a new favorite gun.
It has the hydraulic buffer and all of the Matador goodies along with the Vent 2, and other stuff you see there.
It is a grand total of 23 inches long.
It was pouring down rain last night when I finally got it home, so I wasn't able to give it a full run through - but I did fire a mag off the porch at some trees about 100 yards off.
I learned two things I didn't know.

  1. The sound of brass falling onto a wooden deck is actually kind of loud.
  2. The firing pin hitting the primer is a very distinct click.
  3. The sound of a 9mm round hitting a tree 100 yards away in the rain is still louder than either one.
I really don't think I could be more pleased with how this ended up.
It even fits in the bag I carry around everywhere.

Dave and company, I salute you for a fine, fine weapon.

Espada pictures, current configuration.

Promised pictures of the Espada's current incarnation.
Waiting on the suppressor and hydraulic buffer and then it will be "finished"
When the Vent 2 gets here I'll take more pictures and everyone can make fun of me for changing/adding things I said I'd leave alone. 😄

Espada - after sighting it in.

First, before you ask, yes, that is a pistol light/laser on top of the Espada in front of the sight - it doesn't obstruct the view at all and because of how small that thing is my thumb naturally reaches the activator. It is a bright green laser and a light - which is better than either individually.

Now, back to the story.
Soft shooting, yes, accurate, yes.
I was hitting shotgun shells set out as targets when the steel became boring. (50 feet out or so - they were at different ranges, but that was about average.) Again I was driven inside by the ungodly heat, but wasn't the least bit sore or tired from shooting.

The Tavor is just there for perspective... ok, not just perspective, I like that too.
However, I had to spend a lot of money to get the Tavor up to where the Espada started.
I'm looking at about $600 worth of changes excluding the sight. (Which is is an unfair comparison)
The Espada came with those already built in.
Trigger, nice aluminum handgard, etc.

As I was typing this a bag for the Espada showed up - one that will allow me to carry it around pretty much all the time concealed. (It's just a pistol, remember. 😉) I put it in there and... yeah, I wouldn't mind bringing that with me everywhere.

So... buy it already. I have yet to experience a moment of regret.

My first bullpup after many years.

As is tradition, every time I take a picture of it I find something to change.
So, this is an old picture. The suppressor has been upgraded, the foregrip removed and the light put down there, the rail the light is attached to has been removed as has the podium bipod. (I found I didn't really need it.)

The Espada arrived!

I just got home and only had time to run two mags through it, but the Espada is wonderful!
Small, light, and smooth shooting.
I can't wait to put a suppressor on it. (Maxim MS-9 when I can get it)
I took a picture of it with my EDC and a 9mm round for comparison.
When there is light to see I will sight it in and run it through its paces.

Yes, the trigger is as good as they say.
The best stock trigger on anything I've fired - bullpup, pistol, rifle, whatever.
Only my Geissele compares and I'd have to try them out side by side to see which is better.

If anyone is wondering, the H&R Colt stick mags work great and the last round bolt hold open functions flawlessly with them.

I'm kind of expecting a break in period to be needed before I can really see what it can do, but so far I am thrilled.
