Question to other low tier CE players

Hi all!

I tend to distance myself from a lot of wow commentary because I never enjoyed the negativity that seemed to be popular, so apologies if what I'm about to ask/say is something that has been discussed a lot.

I'm a CE player, in that by the end of the season me and my guild will have achieved CE. We aren't top anything (although we get a good ranking early on in the season for reasons i don't know but certainly not skill based xD).

I've played since about 1 week after WoW launched. I've punched cthun, thrown shadowbolts at Arthas, I even enjoyed BFA and SL (some annoyances, but on the most part was more than happy). I've burned myself out before and taken short breaks.

I took the decision recently that for the first time ever I'm going to quit and here's why. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else who raids about the same level as I am feels the same, or if I'm just a bit over the game now.

There's many other reasons such as crest caps, vault etc that I'm unhappy with, this is somewhat minor. The main thing that has pushed me to this is the constantly sliding difficulty scale in mythic raiding.

The moment it really hit home was recently. We were progging crown, we were up to p3, we just needed one break cycle to go cleanly and we were going to crawl through the finish line. We had a lot of pulls, we had people join and leave the guild, we tweaked tactics and as a team we became stronger and more efficient!

Then reset happened, and with it we were all handed 298 weapon and trinkets upgrades, crown was nerfed, our weekly raid buff went up. We walked in on wednesday evening and we 1 shot the boss with no deaths. We even made many mistakes that 24h earlier could, and should have wiped us then and there. The boss died, and comms was pretty much silent. What would have been whooping and cheering was just.... apathy.

The final nail in the coffin was a few pulls into belo (we had some guild issues so we've taken way more pulls already than we should have) and the response on discord was 'ah well the new raid is out soon and thats basically free 298 loot, plus boss will prolly be nerfed soon so worst case we get a free kill anyways.

It's gone from rising to the challenge, to having the challenge lowered until you kinda, fall over it if you don't overcome it quick enough.

If you got through my ramblings, thank you for reading!

Struggling with Unraid virtualisation

Hi all. I have 2x R730XD which is complete overkill. 1 (my first) was SFF, the other is LFF. I moved my unraid install from an old machine to the LFF one to make it easier to access the drives in my rack.

The idea was to eventually (which has come now) put proxmox on the LFF box, pass through the PERC and virtualise unraid on there pretty much just for storage. Then use proxmox and my existing small cluster for compute.

I'd assumed the 2 back SFF slots were separate from the front. So after blocking proxmox access, proxmox wouldn't boot as the back ones are all part of the front. So that option went out the window.

The next step was I took the 2x 1tb NVME drives I was using for unraid cache, I was going to have that in raid 1 for the proxmox install, then use a pair of SSDs in the SFF slots for unraid cache. The problem is the R730XD doesn't have the PCIe with NVME's in accessable on boot. Damn

So then I read about Clover - seemed perfect. Bit of an extra step but will let me boot into proxmox from the USB drive. The next problem is that any attempt at blocking proxmox access to the HBA doesn't seem to work - I think it's because Clover doesn't read the grub settings.

So this is where I'm at. It seems if I fully pass through the HBA to unraid, I lost the ability to have any drives associated with proxmox for booting.

Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance, If I can get this worked out I can get the first R730XD switched off and probably resold so I can get my power bill down a bit, I didn't need both running.

Anything I can do?

I'm 39 and have never been able to grow facial hair properly. It always gets to this length and I end up shaving it all off. Do I let it grow? Is there something I can do to get it to grow better? it just grows very patchy and stringy.
