So for context iv been training MMA consistently 3 days a week for around 4 months, we do mostly Kickboxing or Mua Thai when sparring (We do ju jitsu rolling separately)

Im not sure if this a stupid question, but I have a really hard time getting close to my opponents to land shots, every time I throw a punch I get counter punched, furthermore I keep getting caught with guard down after I throw a punch or a kick (coach says its cause when im drilling . Iv seen guys who have been training for longer have good sparring sessions where they equally land and counter.

My question is, what can I do to improve this, I have a friend who started training with me, so any advice yall have I can practice or drill with him, I believe that there isnt much personal attention given to individual in our club, so anything that has worked for you guys in the beginning would be greatly appreciated 🙌🏾

If you have any good videos or tutorials to follow it would be greatly appreciated.
