750$

Hello everyone, I am new part-time Kindergarten teacher, and I was wondering if the government will also be providing us with the $750 for classroom supplies and materials. I start working on August 31, and I’d like to know whether I should start purchasing classroom decorations and supplies with my own money or if it would be better to wait. Thank you so much!”

Autoimmune liver disease

Hello,

I would really appreciate hearing from parents or anyone who has gone through a similar experience.

My daughter, Inas, is 10 years old and has autoimmune liver disease. She initially started on 35 mg of prednisone and is now down to 15 mg. She is also taking azathioprine, and her doctors have told us that she will likely need to stay on this medication for life.

Because she is immunosuppressed, she was recently hospitalized for 10 days due to a viral infection.

I have so many questions about her future. Will she be able to live a normal life? Play, go to school, participate in activities, work when she's older, get married, and have a life like everyone else?

Will she always be more prone to getting sick because of her condition and medications? Will she always need to wear a mask in public?

Thank you so much to anyone willing to share their experience or advice.

Prednisone

Hello everyone,

My 9-year-old daughter was diagnosed with an autoimmune liver disease. She recently had a biopsy, and the doctor prescribed several medications for her: Prednisone, Ursodiol, and Lansoprazole.

The doctor explained that prednisone can cause side effects, and honestly I am very scared. I’m afraid she will gain a lot of weight, have trouble sleeping, or become nervous and irritable. As a mother, my heart is truly breaking and I feel very worried.

If there are any parents here whose child has gone through a similar situation or taken this treatment, I would really appreciate hearing your experiences and advice.

Thank you so much ❤️

DTC

Hello everyone,

I am a single mother in Ontario, and my daughter has a liver disease. She is followed regularly at Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and she recently had a biopsy. For several months now, she has been going through frequent blood tests, medical exams, and specialist appointments.

Since I am the only one taking care of her, I often have to miss work to bring her to the hospital and stay home with her when she is unable to attend school.

I wanted to know if any parents here have successfully obtained the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) for a child with a chronic liver condition or significant medical needs.

Can frequent medical follow-ups and restrictions qualify?

Are there other financial support programs in Ontario or Canada for caregiving parents?

Thank you so much for your help and for sharing your experiences. 🙏

Hi everyone,

I recently obtained an LTO position, but I didn’t realize that the school starts at 8:15 a.m., while my children’s bus arrives at 8:45 a.m. Yesterday was my first day, and it was difficult because my children don’t have childcare.

Could you please let me know if I’m allowed to apply for another LTO? Am I allowed to apply to a school that starts at 9:10 a.m.?

Thank you very much.

Hello everyone,

I am a new teacher currently working in an LTO position in FSL. I will be starting a Master’s degree in September with a concentration in Leadership.

I understand that this degree can lead to administrative roles (such as principal positions) within French-language school boards, where I am currently working. However, I am particularly interested in opportunities within English-language school boards.

Are there leadership positions in FSL within English boards? If so, what do these roles typically look like?

Also, is the salary for these positions similar to a teacher’s salary, or is there a difference?

Please note that I am primarily a French speaker and have an intermediate level of English.

Thank you very much for your guidance.
