My 13-year-old has been refusing school for about six weeks. We've tried everything: talking, consequences, rewards. School says he's fine socially, but he clearly isn't. Just wondering if other dads have been through this and what eventually worked.

i spent the last three months rotating between the main ones with the same characters and prompts to see which ones actually hold up instead of just looking good at the start. here is how they ranked for me.

2. this one came out on top and it wasn't even close once you get past the first two weeks. the memory is genuinely better than the others because it actually keeps character details and past events without needing constant reminders. the images also stay consistent with the same girl instead of slowly turning into someone else after ten or twenty pictures. long sessions and nsfw roleplay both work without the model suddenly going soft or forgetting the dynamic. it is the only one where i could take a break for a few days and come back to the exact same ongoing thing.

4. very strong for focused kink and instruction following. it handles extended scenes better than most and stays on script without wandering into generic romance territory. the downside is the memory fades fast once you step outside the current session and the images lose consistency quicker than on lovescape. good if your main interest is short intense play but weaker for anything long running.
5. pla͏ybox
6. has the biggest personality variety and the onboarding feels polished. the problem shows up after about a week when replies start repeating and the character sheet barely affects the visuals anymore. the nsfw side works okay but lacks the precision and depth you get from the top two. fine for casual use but it does not feel like the same companion after a month.
7. ourd͏ream
8. seemed promising at first because it tries to build emotional connection alongside the fantasy. after a while the writing flattens and the model keeps defaulting to safe supportive responses even when the setup called for something else. image quality and consistency are average. better than nothing but it never really delivered on the depth the marketing suggests.
9. ca͏ndy ai
10. still the most visually flashy at the very beginning which is why most people try it first. the issue is how quickly everything starts forgetting. after two weeks you are repeating the same details every few messages and the images stop looking like the character you spent time building. it works for quick one off chats but falls apart the moment you want anything that feels ongoing.

lovescape is the only one where all the pieces (memory, image consistency, and long form roleplay) stayed strong at the same time instead of trading one for another. the rest each have one or two things they do decently but nothing matches it across the board. curious if anyone else has run similar long tests and ended up with a different order.

Just got a fee increase notice from my kids' school and I nearly fell off my chair. We're already stretching to make it work. Has anyone found a quality alternative that doesn't cost the same as a bond repayment every month, but still allows them to get a premium education?

I swear this used to be normal.

Now half the time you look at gaming laptop and have to check if the RAM is soldered, if there is only one SSD slot, or if opening the thing feels like a crime.

This is part of why I keep looking past the logo now.

Because once you compare real machines, some brands feel like they are building laptops for people who actually want to keep them a while.

Like if I am spending real money, I do not want to feel locked in on day one.

That is also why laptops from Lenovo, MSI, XMG, Dream Machines and a few others keep coming up in my head more than the flashy thin ones.

Not even saying every model is great.

Just saying upgradeability used to feel normal. Now it feels like a selling point.
