Normal behavior? Low GPU usage (30-40%) in PUBG on Low/Comp settings (Core i5 12400/ RTX 5060/ 32gb dual channel ddr4 3200mhz)

Hey guys,I'm trying to figure out if my PC is performing normally or if I have a hidden issue.

When playing PUBG on Competitive settings (everything on Very Low), my FPS sits around 170-176 FPS.

However, my hardware tracking shows my CPU usage is around 75-80% while my RTX 5060 is sitting low between 30% and 40% usage.

In the main menu lobby, the GPU usage instantly jumps up to 90%+.I ran 3DMark Time Spy and my scores are completely healthy (~13k GPU / ~9.5k CPU).

Also, if I play a graphically demanding game like Ready or Not on Epic settings, my GPU usage works perfectly at 99% and I get 150+ FPS.

I have 4 sticks of RAM with XMP enabled in the BIOS, no background apps running, and no frame caps forced in Windows.

Is this 30-40% GPU usage just a normal CPU bottleneck limitation of PUBG's engine on 1080p competitive low settings, or is something wrong with my Windows configuration? Just looking for some peace of mind. Thanks!

1% Lows locking to exact intervals (48, 60, 80) in heavy games with FreeSync + V-Sync + Low Latency Ultra. Normal behavior or driver bug?

Hi everyone,

I am trying to troubleshoot a very specific performance behavior regarding my 1% ows and frame pacing. I have some PC anxiety regarding stutters and performance ougs, so 1 want to get an expert opinion or whether my system is behaving normally o if I have a driver conflict

My System Setup:

Monitor Refresh: 240Hz (FreeSync Enabled)

Frame Rate Limiter: Capped at 237 FPS via Driver/RTSS

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings: V-Synd set to ON globally, Low Latency Mode set to ULTRA

In-Game Settings: V-Sync turned OFF in-game.

The Behavior: When I benchmark or play demanding games like The Last of Us Part 1 my average FPS scales perfectly, but my 1% ows seem to "lock' or cleanly step dowr into very rigid, exact numbers rather than floating randomly

For example, I see these exact patterns depending on where I cap my targe framerate:

Target 60 FPS -> 1% Low stays locked at exactly 48 FPS consistently

Target 80 FPS -> 1% Low stays locked at exactly 59-60 FPS.

Target 100+ FPS --> 1% Low lands at exactly 80 FPS

Running Uncapped (around 200 FPS average) - 1% Low scales up to 159 FPS.

However, ifIturn V-Sync completely OFF my 1% lows immediately "uncap" and float around in the mid-70s instead of dropping into those rigid tiers

My Questions:

  1. ls this rigid "stepping" (48, 60, 80) hormal mathematical behavior caused by combining standard V-Sync with Low Latency Mode Ultra (0-frame buffer) during

neavy asset-streaming moments?

  1. Or does this look like a broken Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) handshake where m) FreeSvnc is getting ignored, forcing standard V-Svnc interval drops?

Any insight into the rendering pipeline mechanics happening here would be greatly appreciated to help put my mind at ease! Thank you.
