LGS was having a 25% Holiday Sale. Couldn't help myself!

Stopped by one of my LGS today to check out if they had any goodies on their shelves. I was pleasantly surprised they were running a 25% off sale on pretty much everything in the store.

I originally went in to see if I could find a copy of World Ablaze as I missed out on the preorder but I have heard really good things about Warlord of Warlords. My previous attempts with Ork focused books was with Mike Brooks, who I quickly learned was not for me as an author. So I am hoping this one fares better!

Paragon of Faith is another book that surprised me when it sold out in minutes on both its hardcover and paperback releases. It was never on my radar since I haven't touched anything with Adeptus Sororitas in my Black Library journey so far. We'll see though!

Happy 4th to my American brothers and sisters and hope everyone else is having a lovely Saturday!

Which order do you recommend reading the following books? So, so close to the Siege of Terra Series!

Full disclosure. I have not read all the Horus Heresy (yet). My goal was to condense the series down to around 20ish books or less. I have been following cd8d’s Personal Guide to Reading the Horus Heresy (2025 Update) which has been awesome!

I will eventually go back and fill in the gaps with things that interest me in the future. At this point I can't stop reading Horus Heresy now since I am so close to the actual Siege. However, I am very much looking forward to moving on to my physical collection of books which mainly consist of post-heresy reading (I'm looking at you The Lords of Silence, Rynn's World, and Ashes of the Imperium)

With that being said I have been doing some research and have changed the last part before jumping into The Siege of Terra. Partially because I actually own the books and would like to read one of the hundred+ books on my shelves (I like you kindle but I don't love you the way I do physical books)

My plan is to read Praetorian of Dorn -> The Master of Mankind -> Slaves to Darkness -> The Buried Dagger. Then right into The Solar War.

So, what are your opinions with those final four books? I know cd8d had Praetorian of Dorn last and Master of Mankind first. I swapped out Angel Exterminatus for The Buried Dagger as well. Does anyone have an opinion if that reading order truly matters or would you absolutely make a change that is widely considered non-negotiable (I know I can do what I want, but I figured this would be a decent discussion post).

Thanks!

Debating EA FC 26 & Madden 26 Purchase or 1 month XBOX Game Pass

Hello, I haven't played a sports game in well over a decade. This year I've actually been paying attention to the World Cup, which made me start looking into FC 26 to learn the game of soccer in a more fun way, rather than watching YouTube videos. I am also a American Football fan so Madden has a little bit of appeal to me as well.

I see that this game (seem to be all sports games) get incredible hate and flak every year, so I feel like its one of those things that its vocal minority that you see online, while everyone else is just enjoying their time with the game.

With that being said, I am unsure if the extreme criticism is deserved but the game is currently on sale for $14 on steam. It is also $14 for for 1 month of XBOX Game Pass PC that includes EA Play. So I am at a crossroads and a bit indecisive if I should just pull the trigger on "owning" the game or renting the game for a month for the same price. I suppose the benefit to EA Play is that I can also try out Madden 26 in the same subscription.

I believe this year will be no different and FC 27 and Madden 27 will be coming out towards the end of summer and not sure if its worth purchasing anything with them right around the corner.

Anyways, thanks for any insight in what you personally suggest. Thanks!

THE BIG SUMMER PREVIEW SHOW This Friday!

The Big Summer Preview Show is happening this Friday June 26th (check poster for local times). I am curious if we will get any Total War information. The developers had previous said that we would be getting more information at the end of June and this seems to be the perfect time for them to drop some good stuff!

Fingers crossed, no way they drop a release date… right?…right?

Edit: It was brought to my attention that the likelihood of any Total War information dropping at this event is extremely unlikely. Thanks to all those that politely let those of us know who were unaware that this is primarily a tabletop showcase!

Cheers!

Currently reading Scars. I thought this except was pretty damn metal and had to share!

It was not artful, it was not elegant – every blow was brutal with primal potency, and the end came quickly. Russ hewed down, smashing open the Contemptor’s torso below where Bjorn’s axe-blade was still lodged. Its shell cracked open with a wet schlick, exposing bubbling amniotic tanks within. Russ piled in, switching to a one-hand grip so that his gauntlet was free to seize the enclosed flesh.

The final scream was sickening – a thin, barely audible shriek of agony from the sliver of once-warrior that still endured within the Contemptor’s innards. Russ wrenched the meat-chunk free, dragging a tangle of feeder-tubes and neural bundles with it. Fluids – blood, tank nutrients and engine lubricants – splattered across his gold-rimmed armour.

For a second, Russ held the Contemptor’s mortal elements before him. The creature was meagre and dripping, a sordid collection of barely viable organs. Something like a lung trembled wetly on strands of sinew; a lone eye stared out from a pulped cranial mass.

Russ drew the remnant closer to him. ‘You should have stayed dead.’

Then he twisted his fist closed, throttling the last life from the Contemptor’s erstwhile occupant and casting the corpse-matter to the floor with a damp, gory slap.

I am making my way through a reduced Hours Heresy reading list and currently reading Scars by Chris Wraight. I have to give Chris his flowers as I have thoroughly enjoy his writing. The one thing I love about his work is that he is consistently consistent with all of his books.

I should be finishing up Scars in the next day or so and then on to Path of Heaven, another Chris Wraight book!
