Frats in Tubingen

I’m an exchange student coming to Tubingen and am keen on applying for a fraternity, although trying to be wary to avoid the controversial political ones. I don’t quite know how to figure out which ones are chilled out with a good social life and just going for beers, rather than joining a majorly right wing group. If anyone’s got some recommendations or suggestions that would be great.

Accommodation for exchange student

I’m currently applying for accommodating for the winter semester and I’m unsure what to choose. I’d like a social accommodation with other exchange students preferably, which seems like WHO, however, it is 45 minutes from the old town which is slightly off putting. There’s a few other flats in old town listed that look really nice and great location, but just worried they won’t be as social as WHO. If anyone’s got advice for a well balanced accommodation or a clear winner then do please give me some advice. Thanks.

Travel in Xinjiang

Curious to how easy travel in Xinjiang is. I plan on entering through the Kazakhstan and China border and travelling through Xinjiang, to Xiahe and Langmussi to see the Tibetan plateau, then up to Beijing. This is over roughly 16 days. Has anyone got any idea if this is too optimistic? Bear in mind I only speak English and wasn’t planning on booking any travel before I go but just book the trains / busses when I’m there, and maybe hitchhike if possible some places. Is this an unrealistic route or should I do it but with precautions. Any info/advice/hacks would be super appreciated as I’m super excited but just not sure how rushed this trip will be, especially due to the long distance between Almaty and Beijing.

Uzbekistan domestic travel (trains)

I’m planning on going to Uzbekistan in July but don’t know exactly what my route and timings in the country will be due to previous and further travel, wanted to just be flexible out there and book my travel as I go. However I see online that Uzbekistan trains are booked out quickly, weeks or even months before. Is there any way around this? Or any other mode of transport I can just book at the time. Don’t want to have to stick to a super fixed inflexible itinerary but obviously can’t do much about that if options are limited. Any info would be great.

Kyrgyzstan planning

I’m currently planning my trip to Kyrgyzstan as well as various other countries in central / South Asia. So far I’ve got 9 nights planned for Kyrgyzstan but haven’t booked anything yet. My plan is to just turn up at my hostel in Bishkek and book treks / horse riding and such through them. I want an authentic experience such as spending time with actual nomadic families and seeing the most amazing parts of the country. Is this doable through just waiting till I’m there to book something? And is it doable in only 9 nights? Not sure if I’m rushing or not. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Camping gilgit baltistan

I’m taking camping gear to gilgit baltistan with me and hoping to camp every other night, in the places that waking up to are incredible such as Attabad lake as I’ve heard. Is there any other spots or places people would recommended ? I’m visiting hunza, Passu, karimibad, and fairy meadows so somewhere along that path / area. Additionally, is camping in GB very windy? Currently doing some camping in the Scottish highlands and weather is pretty windy up here and my tent doesn’t handle it too well, just want some reassurance that it’ll hold up fine over there. Any help or advice would be great.

I did this for Nepal, bought a fake arcteryx in Kathmandu for Everest BC. Now doing K2 base camp and GG La and outgrown the acteryx I bought before shamefully. Just wondering if Skardu have similar kind of bazars / street shops that sell decent fake ones. Thanks.
