Need some advice - 2020 Outback Touring XT
I have been in a bit of a pickle with my outback. Took it in to have warranty work done and it was also misfiring which my usual Subaru shop had tried to diagnose a couple times but the problem persisted. I had the dealer look into it and they advised that my usual shop did not put my TGV plates in after walnut blasting. I called that shop with what the dealer found and they towed it over to them and completed installing new TGV plates and reassembling the car. When it was towed from the dealer the top end of the engine was disassembled and the parts were transported inside the car. My other shop completed the service and reassembled what the dealer took apart to diagnose the misfire. However the car would not start and not even communicate with my key once my usual shop completed the service. The car was super dead when it came to them from the dealer. They think based on the way the car was taken apart that it was a newer dealer tech and that they probably did not disconnect the negative battery terminal before taking apart the intake manifold and top end. My usual shop charged the battery, checked fuses, did a bunch of diagnostic work etc and now it's back at the dealer for not turning over and to resume the transmission reseal warranty. The car was towed from my usual shop back to the same dealer. The dealer calls me today and apparently my window was left down and we've had a ton of rain here in Colorado while it was sitting in the dealers lot for a couple days the situation just seems like it's compounding and just getting worse as now the car is soaked inside it was just the driver window left down.
The tricky parts are when my car was at the dealer they tried to sell me walnut blasting which I had done 15k miles ago at my usual shop. And I have before and after photos from that service. Also it seems like if the TGV plates were actually missing I wouldn't have just had intermittent check engine lights and regular drivability but more so a constant light, engine stalling etc. The dealer said when they were diagnosing my car it was missing bolts and just overall not put back together properly after it was walnut blasted. The other thing is I explicitly asked them to box up the parts and place them in the trunk as I have an all weather mat and my trunk was empty. However when my car was towed to my usual shop they said my car was missing parts that weren't shipped with it and also had parts from other cars shipped in it. The dealer tech also just put the parts directly on my back seat and not in a box. I really don't know who to even trust as my usual shop is owned by a former Subaru master technician. I'm mostly just worried about my warranty and potential decreased longevity of my car's life at this point. I also should have checked on my car after it was towed but didn't because I trust these shops to take care of my car and have just been busy. I'm not sure at what point I should involve insurance, lawyers, Subaru of America, etc. idk if anyone has ever been in a similar situation but would love to hear it you have.
