Pushing More
Starting riding in May and pushing a little further each time. 80mi today which included some CRAZY slop that was unexpected. Shout out to Mrs. Judy from a small town called Barwick in Georgia that let me use her hose to clean up mid ride. She was nice enough to hit me with a Gatorade too.
Took him out for sightseeing
And we both had a good time.
Diverge 3 Upgrades?
I have had my Specialized Diverge 3 since 2020 and it is still pretty much stock.
I bike daily in the city of Pittsburgh and weekly on the GAP trail (mostly hard packed gravel). I also use this bike for bikepacking trips.
What recommendations for upgrades do yinz have for me? Include anything from cranksets to bike bags.
Longest ride ever for me: 38 miles over 1800 ft of gain.
Oh- and 68% humidity. Screw hills. I hate them like Anakin hates sand.
Top Tube Protection
I promise to stop spamming this sub soon, it's just that my enthusiasm for this bike has got a chokehold on me at the moment!
After my first ride with the bolt-on top tube bag I noticed some light scratching on the top coat of my brand-new frame and wanted to get some protection on ASAP. I probably should have done this before even mounting the bag, but whatever.
I had some bits of clear RideWrap laying around, but thought I could spice things up with a little vinyl wrap remnant. I've actually wrapped an entire frame before (which I wouldn't recommend) but for a little bit of protection I thought this funky pattern might look cool. I intentionally left it a little oversized for extra flair.
So what do y'all think? Cool? Corny? Feedback welcome!
Should I go tubeless sooner than later?
I just got a new Diverge Comp Carbon. The tires came “tubeless ready.” I bought the Valves and sealant to switch but am a little intimidated about switching over. It’s riding great on the trails I’ve chosen so far. But next month I’m doing Rebecca’s Private Idaho (57 miles that is 40% pavement). Should I switch immediately to tubeless before the race or should I ride as is for a bit?
First longer, mixed-surface ride on the Diverge 4!
[Edited: didn't look like my photos were correctly processed the first time around]
Just a quick appreciation post here.
I'm so happy I sold my older Cervelo Aspero and upgraded (sidegraded? idk) to the Diverge 4. I wanted versatility above all else with this new bike, and I really think the Diverge checks all the boxes. I will be doing a lot of mixed-surface long days, and multi-day tours on this machine, so having the option of riding a 2+" mtb tire, a 38mm slick, or literally anything in between is such a valuable asset. I also really love the Future Shock, which kind of took me by surprise.
I've just ordered some Continental Terra Competition tires in 45mm width to see if I can gain a little more speed and aero performance for all of the road miles I ride. I definitely don't love riding pavement on knobbies. The stock Tracers have been fantastic on the looser terrain, but my gravel mix is somewhere around 50/50 at best, so I want something smoother.
I'll include some photos from my 80-miler yesterday, which was mostly asphalt, but with a good number of gravel miles too.
Finally got my frame bag
I am actually surprised by the quality of this thing. I was thinking it was going to fit bad on the frame and not look as advertised. I really wanted to fit the Apidura Aero frame bag, but the price was a lot for something that hasnt been available in the US rn. I found that Rockbros had the same looking bag. Soon i still want the Apidura if this bag wears out.
Right now my bike is the Diverge 4 size 54cm.
I have another model Rockbros if people are curious about their other model. But its still in shipping. Its a little bigger than this one.
First propper ride
With my Carbon Comp from Villach to Grado.
Experienced a creak when i roll over square edged bumps. I guess its the saddle as its a like a tension/release kind of thing I assume, as there is no noise while normal cycling.
NBD - Diverge Summer
Coming from an old Sirrus, and a few hard tails over the years, I finally upgraded to a Diverge at the beginning of the season. Gravel, single track, road… I’m everywhere and have never been happier. Then came the upgrades. Going from 40T to 42T with the new carbon crankset and wow.. she’s fast. My wrists have always been a problem but with these amazing drop bars and future shock, I’m riding a couch.
• Diverge 4 Expert SRAM XPLR
• Roval Terra Cockpit
• SRAM Force Xplr AXS Power Meter Crankset
• Karoo Hammerhead
• Wolf Tooth Supple Tape
• Power Mirror Saddle
Looking for Wahoo mounting options.
Looking for a mounting solution for my wahoo element roam. Ideally stem cap, or stem mount.
As I run an OrNot handlebar bag out front.
Everything I’ve found seems to clash with future shock.
Thanks in advance!
Pour out a bidon gents, she dead.
My buddy came up from Durham area for a ride on the Parkway in VA. He brought "the great pumpkin", his Diverge E5 Base he's had for 5ish years. I left my Diverge at home and took my Felt... But, we noticed that his right side seat stay had a "line".... A bit of cleaning and it's very clear it's a crack, about 3/4 of the way through/around the seat stay.
NWD!
Refreshed my beloved 2021 Diverge Elite (no future shock)
Carbon Wheelset from Hunt
New Version Cinturato Gravel H (don’t sleep on these)
Cheap Carbon seat post and saddle
Upgraded to 48/31 crank set
New chain, cassette
Pads and rotors
Black supacaz tape
Hoping to try and join a casual group ride, and not get dropped by roadies. 😂
A new cockpit will be coming in the colder months.
I also have to figure out how to keep my 2x, while integrating a used PES505. I ordered an Amazon (Buckaloos) 36T for Durace/105 and will see if I can bodge a 48/36 crankset.
