Pushing More

Starting riding in May and pushing a little further each time. 80mi today which included some CRAZY slop that was unexpected. Shout out to Mrs. Judy from a small town called Barwick in Georgia that let me use her hose to clean up mid ride. She was nice enough to hit me with a Gatorade too.

Carbon Question

Specialized Diverge Carbon Comp 4. I’m sure this is completely fine, but just figured I’d come to Reddit and get berated anyway. So this is below my bottle holder, but I have a plastic Podium Chill in the spot which makes me curious. Could bottle rub only do that and is there anything to worry about with the carbon being exposed or if it continues to wear down in that same spot?

I Am Stupid

The route was The Spaghetti “100”. I was too stupid to actually look and then realized I didn’t go the~62mi after I finished. Not a complete waste but certainly frustrating in retrospect.

First Metric Century!

Not sure what to make of the 4:28 time with it being my first 100KM but I am certainly gassed.

Sand is ROUGH!

These don’t really show the worst sand segments but I’m new to gravel cycling and sand SUCKS. I’m on a Specialized Diverge 4 Comp with 50mm Specialized Pathfinder Pros.

I did some exploring on a route from Ride With GPS and didn’t know there was sand in this route because it didn’t have any pictures but man. Instant energy suck. I NEVER walk my bike and had to more than once this morning. Happy to explore some near areas around Tallahassee though!

Neighborhood Rides vs Gravel Long Rides

So I do 5-7mi every morning and then once or twice a week I do a long (25–50mi) gravel ride. I run 50mm Pathfinder Pros. Long rides I do 28psi front and 30psi rear. Should I bump them both up for my morning rides and then go back for my long gravel rides? I’m new to cycling in general and obviously gravel cycling as well. Thanks for all the support and suggestions in advanced.

Roam 3 Screen Issues?

Does anyone who owns the Roam 3 have any issues with screen? I’m thinking about getting one but I have heard the screen can be difficult to see in different conditions (in sunlight as well has in shade or body shadow). Just looking for thoughts on all of these because I bite the bullet and purchase one. Thanks!

Little Bit of Everything

20mi ride in Tallahassee. Start gravel/cycling for the first time about a month ago and loving it!

First real gravel ride on my new Diverge. 7mi halfway stop. Loving the scenery but feeling gassed. Need to get some legs underneath me.

I picked up my new Specialized Carbon Diverge from the LBS today and noticed they fit a 50mm tubeless setup vs the 45mm I picked out (Specialized Pathfinders). He said 50mm is pretty much what everyone uses on gravel bikes as a way of trying to politely apologize.

My question is though; I want to be able to ride this on both my neighborhood roads for morning bike rides (likely daily) and also on the local trails as often as I can (which I would prefer to do more but having kids makes it tougher time wise). Am I making too big a deal of this and I’ll be fine or should I take it back and have them fit a 45mm tubeless setup?

Bit the bullet and bought HUGE (for my budget) on my first ever gravel/real bike today. LBS I bought from is building it up for me tubeless with 45mm Specialized Pathfinder tires. I’m stoked!

I am looking to upgrade from my Momentum Voya for a lighter more capable bike. My plan is to use it for 50/50 road/ravel. Eventually I’d like to do some bikepacking with my son.

I would have already bought the Grizl 7 Raw but I’m nervous about having trouble with aftermarket parts (stem mounts, light mounts, computers) and the custom service headache.

I worry about CF because of possible expensive fixes if the frame gets cracked/brakes.

Other options may be Checkpoint ALR5 or the Revolt Advanced 2. Any thoughts?! Talk me into or out of anything, I’m open to all thoughts! Thanks guys!
