Ashville's Local Test Piece..?
Boulder has Mount Sanitas, Aspen has the Ute, Colorado Springs has the incline...
Does the Asheville area have an equivalent, a sub-hour tough one really close to town that local runners compare finishing times over?

Is there a page dedicated to Ashville area trail running/hiking? If so, please post link.
My wife and I will be in the Southern Appalachians in June, and we are excited about the Black Mountain Crest Trail from Bowlen's Creek to Mt. Mitchell.
We want to have a vehicle pick us up at Mitchell and return us to our vehicle at Bowlen's.
We are curious about how the Yancey Country Transit Authority shuttle works. Do you have to tell them a specific pick up time?
If so, how long should we estimate it will take us to make the hike? (We are early 40s, in-shape distance runners, seasoned hikers, and experienced technical rock climbers; we have run up to Mitchell's summit from the Black Mountain Campground and we have run the Coosa Back Country loop in N. Georgia.)
Any other advice for getting there and getting home?
Thanks so much!
