Cross-over references to other songs

Using this Bojack Horseman quote to explain the topic 😄 Was trying to post this in the main sub, but posts there remain waiting for approval for ages, I am not sure why 🥲

Basically, I love it when an artist mentions a song inside the lyrics of another song, I find it cute and I feel like it's a wink to the listeners, like "did you see what I did there?" lol

I like it 'cause it feels like it's creating a connection between different songs through that little nod and giving birth to a sort of cinematic universe. So I was looking to see if Michael did that and I found a few examples, but wondering if there are more:

  • in "Wanna be startin something": "Billie Jean is always talking"
  • in "Baby be mine": "you thrill me baby"
  • in "Dangerous": "the girl is BAD"
  • in "She drives me wild": "the girl will be mine"

Do you have other examples that come to mind? Did he do this elsewhere? It could be song titles mentions, lyrics mentions or plots mentioning, anything really I am interested to know. It doesn't have to be obviously intentional, for example the "you thrill me baby" I don't think was intentional, but I count it because "thrill" is not a verb I hear often, so I associate it with him.

Thanks!

"Will you be there" NEEDS to be in the "Michael" movie sequel

What do you think about it?

I'm getting emotional at the simple thought of it and I really believe "Will you be there" needs to be included in Michael 2.

I know his catalog is so full of options that it will be hard to decide what to keep and what to exclude, but this one is not only a wonderful, meaningful song but it can also easily be made part of the storytelling - and in a very powerful way too, imo.

They can adapt/shorten the MTV performance if 6 minutes is too long for the film, but definitely the part starting at 3.50 till the end should be kept, the emotional climax it would lead to would be unbelieavable. I can even imagine it as being used toward the end of the movie, I am sure the impact of his words and questions would leave no heart unbroken for him leaving the theater 💔

Sooo this is my plea to Graham King or anyone around him reading this (probably nobody, but I keep dreaming): I beg you, don't leave "Will you be there" out of "Michael 2" 🙏🥹

What's with this sentence on the back of the This Is It album?

https://preview.redd.it/e6fq6lw06p9h1.jpg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=430b4880167b923f1fa82642f0840b65a28e164e

I had never noticed before that on the back of the This is It double CD they printed the sentence "Always great to sing with my brother" which looks to me like a completely random thing.

Anyone understands the point? Why is it there?

What does it mean?

Who is even speaking?

There is no apparent coherence in there as none of Michael's brothers was even part of the creation of the This is it project, neither the tour or the posthumous projects.

It's kind of a weird placement and it makes no sense to me 👀
