I noticed it was broken, engine drove just fine until I fixed the wiring and put it back in. Now it doesn’t rev past 2k rpm nor shift (limp mode). Any ideas where to start?

2007 with 170k miles,
My belts keep popping and just fixed an issue where the rack and pinion was throwing fluid everywhere. When I found out, the engine was making a knock sound; but no overheating, no low oil pressure light.
