Can I decline Geek Squad replacement?
I have a 5-year Geek Squad Protection Plan on my TV that expires August 24, 2028, paid $842.38. A tech came out for dead pixels, said it's beyond repair, and approved a replacement. The problem is, I have a specialty 360 degree rotating mount that cost $350 and took 3 people to install Geek Squad wants $200 to dismount and $300 to remount a new TV. That's $500 out of pocket just for the swap.
I'd rather keep my current TV and avoid the whole hassle. The pixels are noticeable but not unbearable since I watch TV very little.
My questions:
Can I push back and request a repair attempt instead of replacement?
If repair isn't possible, can I get partial store credit instead of a full replacement? I would be okay getting a partial refund while keeping the TV.The emal says I have 90 days deadline September 1 2026)to call, or until my plan expires, whichever comes first. My plan doesn't expire until 2028, so the 90-day window is the binding deadline. If I ignore this for now, hoping the dead pixels don't spread, can I open a new claim later, or am I locked out once this 90-day window closes?
Has anyone navigated this with Geek Squad? What are my realistic options?
Please help as I would rather not get in the hassle of scheduling techs to come and repair it as its in my parents home and they are elderly.
