I was laid off last summer, and my last day was July 31. My husband was laid off the day before so it was a shock.

I did get a job in December that paid peanuts, but I thought it may be a stepping stone. It wasn’t so I quit after two months.

I just signed a job offer for the type of job I was looking for when I had the job I got laid off from. I start July 20.

So, I’m checking out of this subreddit and I wish everyone looking the very best of luck!

Just got offered a new job at 57

I know it’s rough out there, but it is rough for everyone. If you’re looking for a job, try not to fall into the ageism trap. I’ve been wanting to shift careers for a couple of years, and I was finally successful. I was laid off almost a year ago.

I’m not the only one either. My best friend who is also 57 just got a manager position the same week as me. Another friend‘s husband just got a job he loves after being unemployed for two years and he’s 56.

Keep the faith and don’t give up.

Just a tip. I removed all my graduation dates off my resume, and only included jobs after 2002. I also made sure my LinkedIn matched my resume.

Day two without my dog. Some advice.

This won’t be for everyone, but what helped myself and my husband was getting rid of everything the minute we got home from the vet. We were still in shock and disbelief so it was the easiest time to do it. We don’t have storage so everything went straight to the garbage bin. We left anything useful on the curb.

A lot of people need to keep their pet’s things around for a while, but for us, it was less heartbreaking to wake up to an empty bed or bowls the next day. The pain is still there, but we couldn’t bear to do it once the shock wore off and the real sadness began.

Don’t feel guilty if you also need to do this to start healing. My dog‘s presence is still everywhere, and I’m still tearing up a few times a day, but it’s been a little easier without his things everywhere.

I am a Taurus female and my husband is a Cancer. We never had children, but I always wondered what kind of parents we would have been.

If you had a Cancer dad and Taurus mom, what is your sign and what was your relationship with your parents like?

(My mom was a single parent Scorpio, and it was rough. My husband‘s parents were both Capricorns, and he was extremely close to both of them)
