Sentra Limp mode/hesitation/jerk
Making this post to help someone out because there is little to no info on this online.
My 2020 Sentra went into a hard limp mode at 71,000 km, had slow acceleration, no traction control/abs/collision warning and completely died/stalled out at idle at a red light. Months prior, the car would jerk at low speeds and RPM would lightly fluctuate at idle but no code.
This week I got codes P0404, P044C, P044E, and eventually P0101.
This is a common failure on these Sentra/altima and apparently new gen Rogues as well.
The dealer wanted $1653 to fix it. I pulled the EGR valve myself in 10 min and it looked good and moved freely, but the internal electronics were fried.
I had my engine bay detailed once and since this connector is top-facing, water probably leaked into it and shorted it out over time.
I could've got it repaired from a circuit board repair company for $90, but I just opted to buy a brand new EGR valve assembly for $350 and swapped it myself. Fixed the limp mode and the high RPM cutout instantly.
Hope this helps
