YRT bus ran a red light at Yonge & No Frills (Richmond Hill) – Looking for dashcam footage
Today between 7:00–7:30 PM, I witnessed a pretty serious incident at the intersection of Yonge St and the entrance to Ashley's No Frills (Richmond Hill).
I was the 5th car waiting in the left-turn lane to turn into No Frills. A YRT bus, which had been stopped at the bus stop near the RBC/No Frills intersection, pulled out and proceeded southbound to northbound despite having a red light.
Fortunately, the first car in the left-turn lane was paying attention and honked instead of completing the turn. Had they gone when they had the right of way, it could have been a serious T-bone collision.
I'm trying to identify the bus so I can report the incident. If you were in the area around that time and have dashcam footage or happened to catch the bus number or route, I'd really appreciate it if you could comment or send me a DM.
Thanks!
Key found outside Congee Queen Highway 7
There’s something on the back of the location tag for whomever owns it to ID.
Selwyn
What’s with all the cars parked on Selwyn Rd? Street is filled on both sides.
Found: A kid's backpack in the Lake Wilcox area with school work
Tell me what the outside looks like and what is inside (assignments, names) and I will release the item to its rightful owner. Otherwise, it will be at YRP at Major Mac if too much time passes. Thanks.
Need help finding an OB in Markham for 23-week pregnancy
Hi everyone,
We recently moved from Mississauga to Markham, and we’re now 23 weeks pregnant and trying to find an OB in the Markham area. We’re honestly feeling completely stuck and would really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or guidance from people who have gone through this.
Our family doctor in Mississauga was aware that we were moving early on, but he said he couldn’t refer us to Markham doctors until after the move. He did refer us to Credit Valley Hospital, and we even got a call from there, but by that time we had already moved. After that, when the Mississauga family doctor referred us to OBs in Markham, they were rejected because they’re not accepting new patients.
We then found a new family doctor in Markham, and he told us to call every OB we could find online and check who is accepting new pregnant patients, then once we let him know he will send out the referral. His reasoning being that if he sends and they reject then the turn around time would be longer.
We’ve started calling around, but most places aren’t accepting new patients at all. Some don’t even let you speak to anyone, the automated message just says they are not accepting new patients and asks people not to leave voicemails. A few said they may accept, but only for next year, which doesn’t really help us right now.
At this point we’re really unsure what to do next. If anyone has advice on:
• how to find an OB in Markham,
• or what happens if we can’t find one in time,
we’d be very grateful.
Any recommendations, personal experiences, or practical tips would mean a lot. Thanks in advance.

reddit.comNeed a reliable Auto Body Shop recommendation in Richmond Hill / York Region
Can anyone recommend an honest, high-quality auto body shop around Richmond Hill, Markham, or somewhere nearby? Since it's not my car, I need a place that does a seamless job and won't rip me off.
Any personal recommendations (or places to avoid) would be awesome. Thanks!
r/Richmond Hill Rules
We have added rules to the sub, most have been enforced in the past but not written down. Included are two new ones though:
- No Bad Driver posts
- Self Promotion Posts Limited to Tuesdays (This one is a trial basis, hopefully we don't see a lot of really spammy stuff)
Home Break In Awareness
Please help identify this individual and spread awareness about the this break in.
This man broke into our home in the Yonge & Major Mackenzie area early Sunday morning while my family was away. We have two young children, and this has been incredibly upsetting.
He was also seen in the area on Friday and Saturday night before the break-in. If you live nearby, please check your security cameras from those nights and early Sunday morning.
If you recognize him or have any information, please send me a private message.Even if you don’t, please be aware, keep your doors locked, and consider checking your security footage. Hoping this post may help identify him and prevent this from happening to someone else.
Asbestos in Bayview Hill
Is anyone aware of asbestos in or experienced in demolition/renovation of homes in the Bayview Hill neighbourhood?
Considering purchasing a home in the area with build year 1988 but concerned about renovation costs escalating due to the potential presence of asbestos in the drywall and stucco/popcorn ceilings.
Apparently they were phasing this material out in the 1980s but prior to 1990, it's still possible.
Thanks in advance!
The stone house at 12761 Yonge Street in Oak Ridges.
Standing at the terminus of the bend in Yonge Street around Bond Lake, is a little stone cottage, a landmark building that has been passed by many each day. Located at 12761 Yonge Street, it stands on a portion of the former ''Craigmore'' estate of John H. C. Durham, who was general manager of the Merchant's Life Insurance Company of Toronto. Durham purchased the Thompson farm in Oak Ridges in 1908, and remodelled the existing farmhouse on the property in 1912. About 1915, he hired Willaim H. Graham, Richmond Hill’s most sought-after builders to built the cobblestone cottage for the use of the farm manager. In the 1940's, Craigmore was sold to the Gamble family to add to their Bond Lake holdings.
The one storey cobblestone cottage is faced with rounded natural riverstone, trimmed with informal quoining and rough hewn voussoirs. The main building is square in plan, with a pyramidal roof, and there are exterior stone chimneys on the east and west walls, and a frame addition on the south wall. Windows which were typically double hung with 6 over 6 glazing on the main house and 3 over 2 and 2 over 1 on the addition, also boasts an open-framed sheltered door.
Land grants were distributed in groups a few miles apart by the Governor of Upper Canada to encourage settlement around the northern stretch of Yonge Street. William Bond, a most enterprising pioneer, petitioned Governor Simcoe for a Crown grant stating that he wanted to live in the province and could bring in four good and industrious families. He was allotted the land in which Bond Lake is situated and by 1795 cleared a stretch of land, built several buildings and extended Yonge Street by eight miles. By 1804, he advertised it as for sale, and advertising it as most favourable for orchard, pasture and grain “with an abundance of fish and fowl”.
During the 1850’s the Bells acquired part of this land that was sold to the Metropolitan Railway and converted into a park. Today the Bond Lake site contains a number of historic buildings, including this one. Yonge Street, which was once nothing more than a dirt track and one lane in each direction, also includes the gateway house that is located across the street, and would become the oldest surviving stone house in the present-day Oak Ridges.
Does Richmond Hill make parents sign a massive 4-page legal waiver for swim lessons too? (Looking at Vaughan’s new rules)
I was recently looking into registering for the "Learn to Swim" swimming classes programs over at the Carville Community Center just across the border in City of Vaughan Vaughan, and I was completely blindsided by their new registration process.
Instead of the standard, simple "click here to agree to terms" checkbox at checkout, inside the community centre Vaughan is now forcing parents to sign a massive, separate 4-page "Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement."
I actually took the time to read through the legalese, and the clauses they are forcing residents to sign are incredibly aggressive for a basic kids' swim class:
• The Waiver of Right to Sue: You explicitly agree that even if the city or the lifeguards are completely negligent, you waive your right to take them to court for damages.
• The Indemnity Clause: In plain English, you agree to "hold harmless and indemnify" the city. This means if any legal claim arises from your family’s participation, you are contractually agreeing to cover their financial losses, which includes paying for the city's lawyers and court fees.
• The Perpetual Photo/Video Release: It gives them a permanent, royalty-free license to use any photos or videos taken of your kids during the program for promotional purposes without further consent.
I know municipalities are dealing with skyrocketing insurance premiums, which is likely why Vaughan upgraded their system to force these standalone signatures. But forcing a parent to legally agree to pay for a city's corporate lawyers just so a kid can learn to swim feels like massive overkill.
My question for Richmond Hill parents: Does our city do this too now?
EDIT - see some of the crazy clauses I posted as replied to this thread as they are too long.
Driving Schools
Hi! Just got my G1 and was looking at driving schools to reduce insurance. Anyone have any recommendations? I've heard mixed reviews about All-star, but its really the only one I know about lol.
Bell Fibe alternative
Has anyone had any success with a 3rd party TV+internet fibre optic package using a company other than Bell? Personal experiences would be helpful. Bell is getting more expensive every year.

I’m making a group chat to make local female friends IRL (Markham, Richmond Hill, Toronto, GTA)
Hi everyone, over the last few days I’ve been seeing multiple posts from women living in Markham and Toronto expressing that they don’t have many friends and that they don’t know how to make new friends. Although I think it’s great to communicate with people online sometimes, I don’t think that this can replace a true friendship where you spend time together and can call and talk about anything.
This doesn’t have to be a major commitment, but it can open a door to meeting people who we may really enjoy spending time with. I have always been really cautious about Reddit specifically, because I think with other social media platforms you kind of get an idea of who the person is, and I’ve never really thought of meeting through here.
BUT Since this is a local community, I thought we could try to move to another social media platform and if anyone gets along, they can (with safety precautions) make plans to meet.
To give you a little background about myself, I am 26 years old and a girl, I am a ballet dancer and I work as a dance teacher and choreographer. My dance season has ended and so I basically have the whole summer free. I have been thinking about traveling, but I’m not really sure yet and I want to make the most of it. I do spend time with my family and have one or two people that I see sometimes, but I just don’t think that it’s enriching enough so I want to expand and meet new people. I like to take walks, I like to go out and eat, I like to go to the mall, and I’m open to learning new hobbies.
If you would like to be in a group chat, I’m thinking of making it on Instagram, but it doesn’t have to be there for sure, please send me a message and let me know. Again, I think it’s wonderful to make friends online, but I want this group specifically to be for local people who want to meet. it doesn’t mean that on the first day we have to absolutely meet in person, but I’m trying to make the intention that we will actually find a new friends to be a part of our lives.

Parking at Bond Lake....smh.
For such a high traffic little space, you'd think the city would be a little lenient when it comes to parking around here...there's one small space for a handful of cars, a random little grass/dirt patch where 4 cars can park..and then this sign. Yeah...because parking and having to walk 2.5km makes any damn sense. The most random places along Yonge and Bayview allow street parking..so why not allow people to park on the shoulder along Yonge St here?
