Does anyone have a veterinary nephrologist or kidney specialist they LOVE in or around Irvine/Orange County?

My 15-month-old Yorkie, Luca, was recently diagnosed with kidney dysplasia, and I’d really like to get him in with someone who specializes in kidneys, especially in young dogs. ❤️

I’d prefer someone in Orange County but I’m willing to drive for the right doctor.

What I thought would be a routine “tummy upset” vet visit turned into elevated renal values.
We’re waiting on more tests and have an ultrasound scheduled. Hoping it’s nothing major—just really worried about our little boy. 💙

LUCA UPDATE
Luca was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia, which means his kidneys didn’t develop properly before birth. They’re much smaller than they should be, and the tissue inside them is malformed, so they may not be able to filter waste and regulate his body as effectively as healthy kidneys would. Right now, we’re still learning more about what this will mean for him, but I know he’ll need a special diet, regular checkups, bloodwork, and close monitoring of his kidney function. The doctors will be watching for any changes and helping us manage his condition as carefully as possible. It’s a lot to process, and we’re heartbroken, but we’re doing everything we can to support him. 💔💔💔

Turns out he was grabbing his calming puppy to snuggle with…I guess it was past his bedtime. 🥹🩷😴💤🐾
