Hba1c !!!

i had a doctors appointment at my GP surgery a couple of days ago and asked about my recent blood tests from the diabetes clinic.

i was diagnosed at 3.5 years old in august 2003, i am 26 now and have always struggled so much with my blood sugars and keeping them steady and in range.

my Hba1c has always been terrible, always getting in trouble for my blood sugars being up and down, but this time? this blood test? 58mmol/l (7.5%) babyyyyy!!!!

i mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s still a little elevated but my lowest result yet in the past 23 years!

apparently, according to some minor research i did, only around 32.3% of diabetics in the UK actually manage a hba1c of 58 in 2020-21, and 41.5% in 2024-25, so i dont feel too terrible about it because im not failing at life like i thought i was!

im proud of myself, thats all🥰

medtronic 780g

my doctor has agreed to finally put me on the waiting list for a pump! of course i will probably be on the waiting list for a long time, but im already panicking and seeking reassurance and information. lol.

originally i wanted the omnipod due to the lack of tubing but my dr recommended the mini med instead due to tighter control.

this is a big change for me, i was diagnosed in 2003, i tried my first cgm around 2015/2016 and HATED it, decided to try again in 2020 and now i cant live without my dexcom.

i know really that switching from injections to a pump is going to be weird at first but it’ll be good and i’ll enjoy it once i get used to it, but the thing that really freaks me out is the tubing.

first of all, from what i’ve seen, i think the shortest length is 60cm depending on a few factors. my height is around 148-150cm, so it’s almost half my height, my medical equipment is getting to be as tall as me the more it advances!

secondly, what do you DO with the tubing? like can you hide it? how do i stop it from getting caught and ripping it off me like i used to with my libre? where does it go when i SLEEP?

im overthinking this so bad i think :’)
