Hi so am under a standard review the one with 4 month bank statements. I requested to close claim yesterday without uploading anything as want to get off it anyway. What does this message mean? Do they mean i jave to wait till the review window passes ie may 25th? Or do they mean i have to comply?

Alternatively does it mean they are just reviewing it spearately before closing?

So I see a lot of people saying claims can be closing during a standard review without issue.... However I feel maybe these are cases where documents have been uploaded before... Can anyone confirm if they have closed their claim successfully during a standard review without uploading any documents?

What happens when relationship breaks down?

My marriage has broken down and we have a 7 y/o son together and my ex has an 18 y/o with autism who she is carer for. I am the only one who works so there are big deductions due to this. I will be leaving the house at some point once we've sorted out they can all stay and just remove me from the tenancy. Am I correct in thinking that the monthly payment will go up for her if we declare the split? I'm not expecting to get anything from UC once we split. Will her UC payment go up when I leave?

With some places trialling no fit notes by Drs, how will someone get a WCA?

Just reading the news on the BBC website, Dave across an article saying there are trials starting where some DRs won't: giving out fitnotes, how will people manage to get a WCA without one?

UC Review - update

Hi based in England
I recently had a UC Review for my claim and SE

I had to send of 4 statements for each bank account and my business account

I haven’t done any self employment work for ages so didn’t have any money going into my business account so I was a bit worried about that

Got the notification about calling me
Bang on 11 am got the phone call

The lady was lovely went through all the usual security questions

Didn’t ask me anything about cash that I take out each week ( normally around 250)

Didn’t ask about any transactions ( there aren’t many )just rent electric phone bills I tend to spend cash and keep receipts just in case

Literally took 10 minutes even though 60 mins was allocated for the review

Got a message in journal within 5 mins saying that the review was completed

LCWRA - Holiday

Hi guys! Hope you’re having a good day today!

Had a question. I receive LCWRA and am planning to go on a holiday in late June for 9 days. I’ve seen conflicting things online about whether or not this needs to be reported. I don’t want to be in a situation of committing some sort of fraud.

It is also making me feel somewhat guilty. I have bad mental health issues and haven’t been on a holiday in many many years. I’ll be flying out of the country to see a very dear friend and their family. Is this okay for me to be doing? I’ve already booked it but I’m second guessing myself, I don’t know. I’m often in my own head.

What information will I need to provide if it’s necessary to report?

Overseas for more than a month

Hi everyone, seeking some advice from anyone who may have been in a similar situation. I initially went away for 4 weeks, during this time I developed an abscess so went to a local dentist to be informed that I have severe gum disease and that it needed to be treated as some teeth may need to be extracted and so I have extended my stay for a total of 3 months a I am able to work remotely. I received a request to attend an appointment with UC and so I informed them that I was unable to attend, giving my reasons. I now have to report the change. Does anyone know what will happen from here? I’m worried that it may close my claim and if I reapply on my return I will lose the transitional relief I had from working tax credits. I thought that I could save costs by getting my treatment overseas but if I need to reapply and lose my transitional relief, I think I’m about £200-250 out of pocket per month. So I could return, although the dentist said I need to get this treated as I have extensive gum disease with a number of loose teeth. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

17yo UC HOUSING ELEMENT

My 17 year old receives carers allowance and has a UC claim with his first payment being due next week. They’ve updated his journal saying that he cannot claim housing costs despite them originally telling us that he can and we just had to get him added to the tenancy which I’ve done.

Is this correct? It’s not a major issue as he turns 18 in under 2 weeks so it would only be this months housing element he couldn’t claim.

How much should I be getting (LCWRA)

Hiya,

First of all I was given a sick note in feb, which was accepted and was then given a LCWRA assessment in March where they deemed me incapable. Now, the people I know that are LCWRA like me all get 700 and something pounds a month, where as i get £325 (from 300 in previous months). And on the website it says higher payments start 3 months after your sick note, so I was thought it would start this month. I am just wondering if I have done something wrong, i’ve been a bit f*cked this month financially (Thank you British Railways, for being so nice and cheap, not) and have no other income sources.

I know it’s probably not the case, but is it due to being dependent on opiates being on my NHS record? I am sober and have been since october.

For context I live at home with my mum, I just turned 22 and I am male, in the south west of England.

Thank you and sorry if the post doesn’t make much sense.

LCWRA Awarded Timeline

Morning all, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone in this community. I’ve been so lost and confused this past 6 months but lurking in here has been a massive help.

For years, I’ve been struggling to maintain employment while dealing with anxiety, depression, possible AuDHD, etc. Last year, after hitting the lowest I’ve ever been, I finally did what was right for me and gave myself the time to recover. I was dismissed from work on capability grounds and claimed Universal Credit and today, I was awarded LCWRA. After years of suppressing how I was feeling, downplaying it and trying to act ‘normal’, this feels so validating.

My timeline, in case it helps anyone…

25/11/2025 - Sick Note Reported/UC Claim Opened
17/12/2025 - UC50 Form Sent
22/12/2025 - Completed UC50 Returned
09/02/2026 - Confirmed UC50 Received
28/02/2026 - GP Returned Completed Form
13/05/2026 - WCA via Telephone
20/05/2026 - LCRWA Awarded

I did request confirmation that my UC50 had been received on 06/02, via my Journal, and also called Ingeus, who did my WCA, on 29/04 to check for any updates as I’d missed a call from an unknown number and wanted to make sure it wasn’t them. They booked my WCA over the phone there and then.

DWP called to confirm I was attending the WCA the day before my appointment. The lady from Ingeus was patient and neutral - she only asked me maybe 3 questions regarding my mental health illnesses, the rest were general questions about where I live, who I live with, when I last worked, etc. They didn’t focus on any physical issues I have, which I don’t have any formal diagnosis for yet (possible Fibromyalgia) and they didn’t ask me anything regarding my Autism/ADHD referral. I was awarded LCWRA based on how depression and anxiety affects my day to day life.

I hope this helps anyone in a similar situation to me. I’ve been reading so many threads on here, trying to get an idea of how my situation will be and convinced I wouldn’t receive LCWRA while knowing full well what my mental state would be if I had to go back to/look for work again right now.

Good luck all and thanks again!

GP says I'm not fit for work but UC says I have to look for work.

I have a serious medical condition which effects my mobility and causes significant pain. I am currently prescribed Pregabalin and morphine, which I take daily. I really dont get out much because of my condition but when I do, I have to use a walking aid otherwise I will fall over in pain. I have been given continuous fit notes from my GP, signing me off work since December. I have also been awarded the higher rate mobility from PIP, but the jobcentre has contacted me today to inform me that I do not qualify for limited capability to work and are now saying that I have to look for a job or my benefits will stop. During the limited capability for work assessment (last month) I gave them the same information that I gave when I applied for PIP. I have called the jobcentre today to appeal the decision but was told this is going to take some time. I had to wait months for the jobcentre to get in touch to conduct the limited capability to work interview as it was cancelled and rescheduled several times (by them, not me) since January. I asked them why they have decided I am fit to work if my GP has signed me off work and PIP have awarded me the higher rate mobility. The guy on the phone said he can't answer that but someone will contact me sometime in the near future to discuss. I have literally lost count of the amount of GP and hospital appointments I have attended over the last 4 months, and the travel costs have put me on my arse. What can I do other than wait for them to contact me "sometime in the near future"?

Is there anything I can do or I just accept and pay back?

I received a letter saying I was overpaid in 2020 when I used to claim universal credit with my ex partner (it was a joint claim and we closed the claim when we separated). The letter states that the overpayment happened because of a Seiss Grant he received and didn't report.

Now me and him have been separated for 2 years and he moved outside the UK. I was never aware he received any grants, and now it feels like im being asked to pay back alone for something that I didn't have much control over.

Is there anything I can do? Is it worth trying to explain my situation, or should I just pay it back?

How do you know when the claim review is complete?

Hi all, I am a little unaware of how all this works. I received a note in my journal asking for 4 months of bank statements which I sent over to them and they also gave me a telephone appointment which I completed, they noticed I had another bank account (I use it for bills and also have a bit of a gambling problem and use the account for that) so they asked for 4 months of those statements too.

I finally sent those over last week after worrying if i'd get into trouble for my gambling addiction but i've heard nothing back and it has been a week. How will I know if the review is complete, how long does it take and will they usually ask for another telephone appointment about the second bank account? Also, will I be in trouble for wasting my UC money on gambling sites?

Help to save question

Im sure most of you are aware of the help to save scheme for those on UC.

I was wondering after the first 2 years of saving 1200 will I be to withdraw it without losing future bonuses? The website isn't particularly clear. Thanks.

Bank statements

I wrote a post a few days ago regarding this and now it’s actually happened and they’ve asked for bank statements from the last 4 months.
My sons father who I live with but aren’t in a couple with, sends me £120-150 a week for shopping or clothes ect for our son.
I’m aware they’re going to ask me about this, will. I get in trouble and should I have declared it?
TIA

Help with benefits

I'm being kicked out of my flat like so many orher people. A family member has offered to help me on the housing ladder with a gift of 13k...it will go straight to a solicitor and I won't see it. Will my benefits stop or be reduced? And by how much? I was planning on quitting universal credit soon anyway (maybe 6 months), but this has put a spoke in the wheels. It seems like a catch-22.

*edited. The deposit is a gift

**update I've just found out for certain that benefits won't be affected if going straight to solicitor! For anyone else who has the same question...

You were right, getting worked up over nothing 😳
