Does anyone else have revoult. I was wondering since it’s a bank holiday will I get my payment eariler ? Or will I still receive it on the 14th? I’m usually paid on 15th but with revoult they pay it early I’m asking because my phone will be getting fixed and won’t know when I’m paid

Rent increase letter -urgent

Hi, going into panic mode here. UC asked me to provide a signed rent increase letter by the 7th as my tenancy agreement shows a lesser amount than what I claimed to be paying.

I messaged my landlord on the 3rd asking him to generate one and didn't hear from him until i chased him up on sunday the 5th for but they said they weren't home till next Sunday and if I could print off one and he'll sign it, ridiculous ask of the tenant. But I went out MY way, got one of the Scottish Government website filled out the tenant bits and dated when I was notified of the rent increase which was in person.

I send him the PDF for him to sign which will be even easier if he has a stylus built in the phone. His reply was he was travelling just now. I'll need to try to get to it later. Messaged later that night checking if he'd done it. Messages suddenly have a single check mark. Called once through WhatsApp it rang out. Phoned through the phone app, rejected my call.

I informed UC through the journal entry, with dates and times of messages between me and landlord and they just essentially repeated the same message I got the first time: "we cannot verify your housing costs. Please submit a signed rent increase letter, I have created a to do for you"

In a bit of a panic … UC as a director

I’m a director of my own company incorporated November 2024. I’ve been receiving UC for about three years. Single parent. Two kids. One receives DLA, I get carers element.

I’ve always done bits from home and always reported every penny I’ve earned. However when I set up a LTD company and created a business bank account I thought it was a separate entity. I drew a wage from the business after about a year of trading, £500 per month. I reported that £500 per month as my income.

I was entirely unaware that I should have been reporting the business’ income and expenses, despite it being its own thing with its own bank account. Some months there is profit (over £1000) but I don’t personally touch that money and I couldn’t. The business needs it or it’ll sink. But apparently that should have been going towards my personal income??

I only discovered this two days ago after randomly googling whether I need to report a change to my circumstances as the £500 is now being paid via PAYE for the first time. Then I came across this director and analogous to a sole owner instance. I have not been reporting the entirety of my company’s income and expenses since its incorporation!! (The first year was a huge loss and barely traded but the second has picked up). I have an accountant. I’m absolutely terrified. I’ve contacted Citizens Advice who will be in touch but I’m not sure how long the wait is. Am I screwed?! I am a by-the-book goody two shoes and my ultimate aim is to get off benefits entirely but right now I need them to feed us and the correct reporting method means I’ll go without but if that’s how it is then of course I will.

Also, for about 8 months I had a business partner who owned 40% of the business so does that mean only 40% of that period counts as mine? Urgh I’m so scared

LCWRA ADVICE PLEASE

Hello

I first started sending in fit notes in March of 2024. Because I was late sending in a fit note (no gaps) two months after application, they cancelled it.
Being mentally ill, I asked about it a few times, no answers, i left it. Now an organisation is helping me fill the form out. Will it be backdated?

Thanks

Universal credit review help-

Universal Credit Review - Really anxious, honest opinions please
Hi everyone,
I’m currently going through a routine Universal Credit review on a joint claim and I’m really anxious. I’m hoping for some honest opinions from people who have been through one.
We were asked for 4 months of bank statements. I uploaded mine and my husband’s. After I uploaded them, they asked for statements from my savings account as well. I don’t actually have any savings in it - I just move my Universal Credit money into it temporarily to stop direct debits or subscriptions taking money unexpectedly, then transfer it back to my current account when I need it. They gave me extra time to upload those statements because they’re paper statements.

Neither of us works. We care for our four children and Universal Credit is our only regular income.
My worries are mainly about the transactions on our bank statements.

My account:
Universal Credit is paid into my account.
I transfer money between my current account and my savings account.
All my bills come out this account.
Family and friends sometimes send me money if I’m struggling financially.
I’ve sold a few items in market place ect nothing as crazy
Some payments from family if they lend me money, I pay it back when I can.
I don’t have any hidden savings or any other income.

My husband’s account:
His account has a lot of William Hill transactions because he has had a gambling problem (he has now decided to attend Gamblers Anonymous & installed Gamban & joined GameStop I’m sure as he didn’t realise how bad things where)

His friend sends him money quite regularly. The reason is that his friend has mobility issues and isn’t good with technology, so my husband has been placing online bets for him using his own William Hill account. Sometimes he also buys shopping for him, and occasionally his friend lends him money.

Most of the money his friend sends is spent on William Hill shortly afterwards rather than staying in the account.
His account doesn’t build up money the balances are usually very low.

I’m worried the DWP will look at the payments from his friend and think they’re undeclared income, even though they aren’t wages or earnings.

I’ve shown the statements to someone who went through them with me and they said they didn’t think they looked like hidden employment, but they thought a reviewer might ask questions about the payments from the friend just to understand them. Has anyone had a similar experience where the DWP asked about payments from friends or family during a review? If so, what happened?
I’m happy to answer any questions they ask and provide more evidence if needed. I’m just finding the waiting really stressful.

I’ve cooperated fully and sent them everything over - I just need to send them my savings bank account which they have been fine and extended my date.

Would really appreciate someone actually talk me through the review what it’s actually for thank you x

Holiday UC

Hi all,

I’m in a bit of a pickle. I was on holiday for 2 months, well I stayed for medical treatment in Switzerland and I forgot to tell DWP, I could not get into my journal.

I arrived back and I was still receiving payments.

I have a review coming up, I’m worried they’ll ask me about some of the payments I made while in Switzerland. If they ask how likely is it that the claim will be closed as I’m back in the UK at the moment.
Or will I be asked to repay the overpayment.

I don’t want my claim to be closed as I am back in the UK and it will lead to extra steps so maybe if they ask I can repay the overpayment.

Advice needed regarding Uc and downsizing

Hi. Recently one of my children went to uni, but comes home at weekends. We do not claim UC for them and have not done so for 2 years, as they are now adult and have their own student loan etc. We had them still listed as living at home, because to us, they do.

However, we live in a 3 bed housing assoc and I knew at some point we would have to downsize to a 2 bed. We still have a younger child at home in full time education for at least another year, and need to stay in this area.

I have been on home swapper for nearly a year, but no swaps as our area is unpopular and too rural.

UC are now cutting our allowance down by over 400 a month due to under occupation, even though uni student comes home at weekends so still needs the room. We cannot afford to move, we cannot afford to take the hit, and I suspect if we did get a swap the rent would actually be higher( due to location changes) and would make no difference to the uc claim... is this a correct assumption?

Appointment Frequency

I was recently made redundant and I started a UC claim to keep me going till I find a new job.

I always thought that appointments at the JobCentre was fortnightly.

I attended only my second appointment on Friday and the lady I saw (I haven’t been appointed a work coach yet) was quite dismissive and only skimmed through what I had put in my online journal. She then said that they will up the ‘intensity’ of my job search and scheduled my next appointment in one week, and said I would be coming in weekly from now on.

Ive not claimed before….is this normal?

Move

Hi,

so I finished university in liverpool, graduating in 2 weeks. I am in newcastle for summer but want to move back to liverpool in september. However I am concerned about finding a job. At what stage would applying to universal credit is beneficial? Before or after moving?

Work allowance

Hi folks, I'm currently in receipt of UC and LCWRA. For about a year I've been doing a little side hustle of which they are aware (I'm down as not gainfully self-employed) and every month declare my income. My question is regarding what would happen if I were to earn enough from my side hustle to effectively zero my UC for that month?

The work I'm doing is hit or miss, some months I might have zero deductions from my UC as my earnings are below the permitted work allowance and other months I might go significantly over and the 55% tapering begins.

Only on one occasion so far I actually stopped doing anymore work because I was getting close to zeroing my UC so I stopped.

So that's my question - what would happen if that occurred? My understanding is that it would be ok and I'd get my UC as normal the following month but I keep reading conflicting info on good old Google. At what point would they close my claim?

It's all just hypothetical of course but my anxiety is getting the better of me.

Thanks in advance

Has anyone had an underpayment before? How long does it take?

There was an issue with my housing costs evidence as I moved and sent them the evidence later due to a mix-up. I got paid £900 wages this month and my UC was £0. So with £800 rent, £100 car insurance, gas electricity etc, I had to sell my xbox and laptop and I only have £60 for the whole month including driving 30 miles a day for work.

None of that info was actually necessary, just wanted to convey how screwed I am.

Review still not done after 5 months?

I had a review which started in November last year, they calculated that I had over-reported my capital and they needed to calculate if I was due any money back. I sent a follow up message in February, they said once they had recalculated everything the review would close. I have an outstanding to-do which I was told to ignore as it was created in error. Is it normal for recalculations to take this long?

Advice pls ! UC overpayment

need your advice pls

My spouse is here in England on a spouse visa . Immediately he got here last year I reported to UC and got him all set up

He got a part time job in Feb started on Feb 3 and when we tried to report through his account on Feb 5 , it seems his account had been deactivated. Whe i researched it seems this is common for spouse visa accounts and he wasn’t able to log in.

So I then reported through my own online account journal and was told he had to report through his online account of which I explained back then that he had no access. I then called up and was told to tell him to call

He then calls and was put on hold for a long time so I think he said he would try again later and I didn’t put much importance to it because I believed UC had his Ni number and the earnings would be automatically reported through HMRC RTI .

I am just checking my statements as I need to print them out for something else and I have seen the earnings Feb - march didn’t actually come through the RTI ( our fault . I know . Should have really pushed the call though😭) and seems I may have been overpaid by £400 for the two months he worked which I’m more than happy to pay back

Anything about UC I’m super anxious and my anxiety is always through the roof because I just don’t like the stress and worry that comes with UC? I want to send a journal message now but I’m just worried about them calling it fraud or sanction ?

He worked for only Feb- March a part time job so the overpayment would likely be for March and April

I know no one knows what they could say definitely but any similar experiences?

Thank you

Moving from rented to shared accommodation?

Morning, looking for some advice.

Me and my ex split back in October and I left the family house and moved into a rented house on my own with my 2 year old son. I work full time in a professional job but financially it’s exhausting. By the time i pay my rent, bills and nursery fees i’m left with next to nothing.

I have some friends who have a house share and they have said i can rent a room at their house. This would reduce my rent from £900 to £300 a month and obviously bills would be split between 5 of us.

Would I still be able to apply for universal credit for help with my nursery expenses? they are £1000 a month.

Would i have to name everyone living in the house? how does it work when you move to shared accommodation?

There will be 5 of us living here if I move in, it’s a 3 bedroom house. 2 rooms are accompanied by married couples with the third bedroom potentially if i move being mine and my sons.

Has anyone done this before?

Thank you.

Mum moving

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help with some advice about Universal Credit.

My mum currently claims Universal Credit (not the housing element). She’s moving out of the place she currently lives and will be moving in with me and my husband in our 1 bed flat in a different county because she needs somewhere to stay.
She won’t be claiming housing element if she lives with us. She also won’t be paying us any rent.
She will be contacting the council to see what they say, and she mentioned about maybe telling them she will in with my husband and I. We both work.

I’m trying to understand:
What are the actual chance of the council saying yes to this?
Is there anything my husband and I need to be aware of as the tenants?
If it goes ahead will the landlord know she lives with us if not paying or on tenancy agreement?

My mum says it will be fine but I’m a bit of a worrier.
Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Edit: Just to clarify, my mum will be moving in with me and my husband into our 1-bed rented flat. She claims Universal Credit (no housing element) and won’t be paying rent or bills to us. I’m trying to understand how this might affect her UC claim and whether there are any implications for us as tenants/household members.

Introduce a statutory duty to track and notify DWP complaints

Introduce a statutory duty to track and notify DWP complaints

We want the UK Government to introduce a statutory duty requiring the DWP to notify claimants about their complaint. Digitally or in writing at every stage. Including opened, escalated, or changed, and to legally prohibit closure of any complaint without a claimant's explicit, recorded consent.

The current DWP complaints system lacks transparency, has poor tracking. Claimants often have no formal record when a complaint is made, making it difficult to get a fair resolution. Not only is MPs' time taken up with complaint administration to the DWP, the DWP must spent time updating claimants as to the progress of a complaint. Accessible complaints will address serious concerns from coroners, safeguarding bodies, human rights, and disability organisations - who protect rights and lives.
