UC identity fraud– my UC details show an email address and mobile number that aren't mine - further post to recent fraudulent benefits claim in my name and money taken from my wages

just a message to the moderators, i appreciate you allowing my previous posts, i have posted this to the 3 UC related subs, please feel free to remove this post apologies as am concerned about this error that still exists.

Hi

Following on from a previous post about receiving unexpected Universal Credit texts and an appointment despite not making a UC claim, and also a court order to take money from my wages which was a few months ago.

DWP are now aware of the situation, the debt recovery has been suspended, and the DWP Identity team are investigating.

However i have discovered something that is concerning me for many months since i reported this to dwp Stolen identity team

https://www.gov.uk/proof-benefits-state-pension

I have used this gov uk service to view my benefit details (even though i personally have never claimed UC), and my name and address are correct, but the mobile number and email address showing on my DWP/UC details are not mine. I do not recognise either of them.

This seems particularly concerning because I previously received a UC security codes that I did not request, a text telling me I had a UC appointment, an appointment at my local Jobcentre despite never completing a UC claim and subsequently discovered the "Court Order" deduction on my payslip, which has now been suspended while this is investigated. I have lost wages due to this.

My main question now is how could my name, address and NI details be linked to somebody else's mobile number and email address? How can i change this

The Identity team are already investigating, but not on this.

how can i get this amended even though the entire claim is under investigation with DWP. I need my email and mobile to be amended which i cannot do online.

regards

Jump in energy bills drives UK inflation to highest rate for four months

Higher energy bills drove UK inflation up to 2.9% in the year to July, the highest level in four months, according to new figures.

Gas prices soared at the sharpest pace in almost four years, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said, leading to an increase in the cap on household energy bills in July. Energy costs surged after US-Israel war with Iran began, which has restricted global oil supplies.

Upgrade from Economy Basic to Plus fare for LHR - ARN? Shall I pay it.

I'm looking for extra flexibility

Hi, I found out why I was sold 1.74 when 1.67 would have been fine, they said the lab would decline any prescription above +5 for 1.67? Is that correct

As I have +2 and +5 sph, 1.67 has usually always been fine, but this optician said 1.74 only, I questioned it and they said that.

Is that correct

In your opinion, how do you purchase your Holliday? Do you purchase it via a package, via third party sites or directly (including hotel and flights direct)

So I use a mixture of Avios hotels, Expedia, Hotels/Booking.com, instead of say TUI or Jet2 occasionally but I try and book directly if I can, such as via the hotel site or the chain website and then book flights directly, instead of using a travel agent.

What's the best and cheapest way

Epping Bell Hotel asylum protester who shoved police is jailed

A protester who shoved a police officer during demonstrations outside an asylum hotel has been jailed for more than two years.

Phillip Curson was part of an "aggressive mob" gathered by The Bell Hotel in Epping on 17 July 2025, prosecutors said.

Police body-worn footage showed the 53-year-old making threats to someone that they would get "smashed up" if they returned to the west Essex town.

Curson, from Upminster, east London, was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court earlier, having been convicted of violent disorder in April.

He becomes the eighth person to be sentenced for their role in the clashes that day, and the seventh to be jailed.

Three other protesters were jailed in October, while Lee Gower, 43, and 38-year-old Shaun Thompson, both from Epping, were sentenced earlier in June.

Aaron Elles, 28, from Harlow, also received a prison sentence of one year and eight months in October.

Luke Fleming, 22, of Thaxted Road in Buckhurst Hill, was given a suspended prison term of one-year and nine months in June.

Hi regarding VUE ticket request posts, these posts will be removed after 24-48 hours to prevent spam in the subreddit if that OP has managed to bag the tickets.

the Megathread was never used unfortunately, members were making new posts every time they wanted VUE ticket requests.

We will make a message so users are reminded to add the VUE ticket flair, and a message telling users their post will be once they've had a DM with a user willing to give them their tickets

For OPs requesting:

  • Please ensure no payment is taken or sent for these tickets. If this happens please report the user to us. Vue tickets should be gifted for free to users who require them.

If we can give members the chance of free tickets, then definitely go for it if you are happy to pass them on 🙂

Same for Legoland tickets via sky VIP

Please refrain from requesting free tickets in the VUE subreddit as that is not what their subreddit is for nor do we have anything to do with that community.

Hi My optician couldn't do zeiss clearview in 1.67? They could only do it in 1.74, I have hard 1.74 is not as clear as 1.67. Is this true.

Hi I can't remember now but I haven't had 1.74 for many many years. I have plus prescription in each eye.

Will 1.74 not be as good as 1.67 as I understand 1.67 has better clarity

Also surely Zeiss start the lens at say 1.5, how can they not thin to 1.67? It made no sense but nonetheless I got a good deal but puzzled why it couldn't be done at 1.67. you just stop thinning it surely until it hits 1.67 😂

Free Vodafone SIM cards given to Channel migrants

The telecoms giant has given 2,500 sim cards, loaded with six months of free data, to Care4Calais, a refugee charity, for use by migrants who arrived in the UK on small boats.

Care4Calais’s annual report shows the charity distributed the majority of the sim cards to occupants of the Wethersfield migrant camp in Essex, which is used to house asylum seekers.

Hi, have any of you visited Chester zoo Solo, is this peculiar or perfectly acceptable

Are there many dining solo in the zoo cafes. I have never been to a zoo and would love to visit Chester. Is it strange going alone as you're surrounded likely by families and couples like a theme park

There would be no one going with me unfortunately so I'd be going alone

Hi Is this worth it for London to Stockholm? I am on an economy saver so have no bags currently

I also have to factor in it's an evening flight, so I need to likely pay £30-£40 for dinner at Heathrow. I understand this gets access to T5 lounges.

Will this price likely be lower closer to the departure which is 3 months away

Hi Is it worth taking checked suitcase 23KG for a 4 week trip? Can I manage with a small backpack and a carry on case 56 x 36 x 23

What would you do? Most flights include a 23KG checked bag so not sure if I should? I will be lugging it around everywhere I go + my 2nd suitcase for onboard the cabin 😄

It includes various other stops on the way, I made a post last week it is indeed a crazy itinerary ? 😂

I am coming from London to Australia, but going via Qatar and returning via Indonesia & Dubai.

  • Landing in Perth (from Doha), spend 2 nights in Perth.
  • 7 days in Sydney
  • Fly to Cairns for 3 nights,
  • Fly to OOL - 2 Nights in the Gold Coast,
  • Fly to Melbourne and spend 4 Nights before flight home to Europe via Indonesia and Dubai from Melbourne

I am staying at multiple hotels and hotel hopping every 2-3 nights and am staying at many Sydney apartments like Meriton which have washing machines. will have potentially 2 suitcases?

Would you manage with just 1x 56 x 36 x 23 Carry on

Hi I'm travelling on the 777 Qsuite solo, shall I pay for my seat in advance, it's about £85 to avoid being in the middle sections, and why are there no middle sections seats available?

Terribly sorry If this has been asked previously.

It's my first time with Qatar airways, But also using my BA miles for a seat in the qsuite on the 777.

I just wondered why there are none available in the centre.

I'm going solo so would like a solo suite and not in the middle next to someone
