Pretty crazy that Keane ends up here. Beto with a good goals number for not many starts (been a sub a lot). Mirallas and Richarlison with good numbers too.
My wife and I will be attending nest seasons fixture against NFFC, but we will be staying in London and taking the morning train to Liverpool, and the night train back. My wife has never been to Liverpool, and do some shopping at Liverpool One, would we be allowed to bring the bags into HDS? I was able to bring my rucksack to one of the fixtures I attended at Goodison, but I've never been to HDS.
Who are those players that always play out of their minds against us?
First person that comes to mind has to be Soucek. Guy always scores against us, and some of the goals he scores he will never score again in his career (Outside of the boot volley in the 91st min 23/24)
Underrated player that always shows up against us is Palmer, too. Scored four goals in one game and made Pickford look like an embarrassment
Someone asked for this as follow up to our biggest signings adjusted for football inflation. Again ai doing the hard work but all looks reasonable.
Definitely interesting, clear winner on top. I always thought it was too low a fee at the time for Rooney, and even adjusted I'd probably still say it's too low for the best the English talent ever alongside gazza, but maybe it was really a bigger fee than I thought.
| Player | Bought (adj.) | Sold (adj.) | Adjusted net profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Wayne Rooney** | £0 (academy) | £148m | **+£148m** |
| **Kanchelskis** | £82m | £110m | +£28m |
| **Lukaku** | £54m | £100m | +£46m |
| **Duncan Ferguson** | £92m | £78m | **-£14m** |
| **Lescott** | £24m | £72m | +£48m |
| **Stones** | £8m | £66m | **+£57m** |
| **Richarlison** | £47m | £62m | +£15m |
| **Fellaini** | £49m | £53m | +£5m |
| **Gordon** | £0 (academy) | £52m | +£52m |
| **Jeffers** | £0 (academy) | £47m | +£47m |
| **Barmby** | £79m | £45m | **-£34m** |
| **Gueye** | £10m | £42m | +£32m |
| **Kean** | £35m | £27m | **-£8m** |
Don't think I ever realised how cheaply we sold Barmby for, not sure what his contract situation was at the time but in my head he was someone who got better whilst at us and got in England squad, but in reality we lost a lot on him.
Similar moise Kean, in my head it was a failure but least we made a bit of profit on him, technically we didn't.
Recently Keiran Maguire had calculated adjusted for football inflation that Shearer going to Newcastle for £15m in 96 equates to most expensive British transfer of all time being +£200m in today's money.
It got me thinking about us and how our historical transfers stack up in today's money so got ai to do some calcs. I knew it would give a different image to how we invested historically compared to currently. Gives real context for how you should view 90s kendall, royle, Martinez, koeman, and the two moyes eras.
I was convinced Kanchelskis would be top as I remember what a big deal that was at the time and he was amongst the best players in the world then but he is pipped.
| Player | Fee (nominal) | Season | PL revenue then | Adjusted to today |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Duncan Ferguson** | £4.4m | 1994/95 | ~£300m* | **~£92m** |
| **Kanchelskis** | £5m | 1995/96 | £386m | **~£82m** |
| **Nick Barmby** | £5.75m | 1996/97 | ~£470m* | **~£77m** |
| Richarlison | £50m | 2017/18 | £4.78bn | ~£66m |
| **Daniel Amokachi** | £3m | 1994/95 | ~£300m* | **~£63m** |
| Gylfi Sigurdsson | £45m | 2016/17 | £4.55bn | ~£62m |
| Romelu Lukaku | £28m | 2013/14 | £3.26bn | ~£54m |
| **Marouane Fellaini** | £15m | 2008/09 | ~£1.9bn* | **~£50m** |
| **Gary Speed** | £3.5m | 1996/97 | ~£470m* | **~£47m** |
| Alex Iwobi | £34m | 2018/19 | £5.15bn | ~£42m |
| **Andy Johnson** | £8.6m | 2006/07 | ~£1.4bn* | **~£39m** |
| Amadou Onana | £33m | 2021/22 | £5.5bn | ~£38m |
Big Dunc from Rangers was equivalent of £92m in current (2024) money. Fascinating that Amokachi cost more than lukaku and sigurdsson..
Also one to note, pre PL, signing Cottee in 1988 for £2.2m a British record then, equates to £135-140m today. Before my time watching, could only dream of us being massive enough to break the British transfer record 😂
Hi 👋
Looking at getting the home top from DH Gate the new ones are just too much for me and the kids would cost me a good bit and all ppl keep saying is the dh gate ones are class so going to give it a go but does anyone recommend getting a size up from what I am which is XL or are they pretty accurate with sizing.
Is there a chance he can stay and play the Cam spot so he and KDH can rotate? Who are you planning to rotate KDH with—Alvarez, Dibbing? I don’t know if Rohl is a permanent deal, can someone inform me? Since the Tyrique George deal is fully agreed on.
But spewing we sold him.
Post title is a bit tongue-in-cheek, obviously but it was great to have an easy conversation starter with the Colombians around me last night just by saying that James and Yerald Mina played for my favorite club!
Up the “get our business done early” Toffees 🔵

What a finnish!
Hi, I am from Australia and am looking to get into following the prem.
Everton has come up as one of my top 2 choices (along with Brighton)
I am wondering if the time would be decent or if you guys are in a shitheap right now.
I do not know much about the club apart from the lovely new stadium, Pickford, as well as other minor things.
I go for the Nets in the NBA, (rebuilding bottom of league team) so I am used to not being great.
If you guys could give opinions/pros and cons I would appreciate that.
If mods don't like the post please remove it.
Thanks
Hi all,
My brother in law, who was a lifetime Everton obsessive recently passed away tragically at the age of 48. He was a long time season ticket holder, used to travel to huge amount of away games, and was obsessed with Everton FC. His room has signed Ferguson shirts, signed Rooney tickets, and we found the seat he purchased from Goodison park in his office.
I’ve reached out to the club via the enquiry form on the website, but wondering if anyone had any ideas/or has seen ways Everton honours the passing of fans. Dream scenario would be putting his picture up on the screen before Everton’s first home game or something to that effect. I know some clubs do a montage of fans lost since last season?
Anything the club could do to honour his memory would be absolute fantastic.
Hope you guys have a fantastic season for my Brother in Law.
Up the fucking Toffees.
