> Hey everyone,
> I’m a rail enthusiast living in Kolkata, India, and I’ve been driving the **Nahverkehr Dresden - Riesa** route (part of the Leipzig - Dresden corridor) in *Train Sim World 6*. While driving a heavy freight rake in the rain at night/dawn, I experienced massive nostalgia and goosebumps because this route is a literal visual and operational mirror of the **Asansol - Durgapur - Burdwan to Howrah Junction (via Chord)** trunk line in West Bengal.
> I wanted to share a few reasons why the similarity is so intense, bridging real-world engineering history between Germany and India:
> The Industrial-to-Metro Blueprint:** In the game, you start in Riesa, a heavy industrial steel/chemical hub, and cut through completely flat agricultural plains before hitting dense, packed suburban stations that bottleneck into the historic Dresden Hbf. This is the exact psychological and physical journey of leaving the Asansol/Durgapur steel belt, crossing the flat paddy fields of Burdwan, and entering the chaotic suburban sprawl of Howrah.
> The 4-Track Quadruple Infrastructure:** The Dresden - Riesa route is famous for its parallel fast and slow/commuter lines running side-by-side. The Howrah-Burdwan line uses the exact same multi-track philosophy to separate screaming express trains from heavy freight and local traffic.
> The "S-Bahn" vs. "Howrah Local" Dynamic:** Dodging and interacting with the high-density DB commuter trains in the game feels exactly like navigating around the iconic Howrah EMU local trains.
> Shared Engineering DNA:** This isn't just a coincidence. In the mid-1990s, Indian Railways revolutionized its fleet by importing 3-phase AC traction technology from ABB/Adtranz—the exact same German engineering base that laid the blueprints for the DB TRAXX platform (like the BR 145/146 locomotives we drive in the game). My dad actually worked in the manufacturing unit for these 3-phase motors at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), and the electronic hum of the motors accelerating in TSW6 is identical to the sounds of my childhood.
> If you want a totally different perspective on the Dresden route, dim the cab lights, set the weather to a misty morning, and imagine you're pulling thousands of tons through the heart of Bengal. It is incredibly accurate!
> Anyone else ever noticed how perfectly European simulator geometry translates to major trunk lines in Asia?
Thank you u/campinge for your amazing work ; this has to be the best tool the community has made for TSW so far to improve our driving experience :)
I've been playing Train Simulator Classic (TSC) since 2014, now I want to get into Train Sim World and I've bought the latest game (TSW 6), but I want to get more content cheaper and I thought about buying old games in order to get their DLCs (for example, buying Train Sim World 2020 to get the 4 routes that came with that game for just 13€), but I'm not sure if buying a DLC that was made for an old game guarantees that I can play it in newer releases. And if not, is there a way to check if a certain DLC is compatible with the newest release? I don't mind if these old DLCs don't include the newest additions and are a bit outdated, I just want to have more locos and routes to play.
Thx so much in advance!
So, anything we know? Anything that's been said about it that I might've missed?
Tadami line has been in the 0-3 months section since the march roadmap, so 2 and a half month now, and there's been no streams or events planned this week per schedule.
So unless they drop the announcement and release in quick succession next week, they're not going to make their 0-3 months window.
I don't mind a delay, I'm sure they're working hard on it, and what I've seen looks great. But I do want to know where we're at and what to expect.
Besides, the "promise" with the release of TSW6 was that it was definitely coming out before TSW7 this time, after having been in the works for so long already, so in that sense, there's still time. But I do feel like, with only 1,5 week to go before missing the window, now would be the moment to either start turning up the hype and announce a release date, OR, to officially announce the delay. Either one would be fine, but I would like to just hear *something*

So the first real world livery rolled out of the depot in Brighton yesterday. Personally think it looks tacky, but regardless, it’s here to stay.
With GBR now holding the license for all of Britain’s railways (or will within coming months) it’s likely that they will insist all rolling stock, on modern routes, be released in the new livery. Personally I think it’s going to make routes look kind of boring, with every train in the having the same plant job.
this is probably a stupid question ….
(on PC) I had TSW5 and some DLCs, and got TSW6 when it came out, and some more DLCs since. my disk is getting full so I could delete TSW5 to free some space. will this cause any issues with the DLCs?
It pmo so much when I realised, oh shit we won’t be able to drive from London to Birmingham 😭
A future DLC I would love to see and why I think it's perfect. The route is 106 miles long from Crewe to Holyhead with 19 station and is primarily operated by Transport for Wales (TFW) who operate Class 158, Class 175 and Class 197 and Avanti West coast also run trains along the route Class 805 Everos, they use to have some Class 221 super Voyagers but were withdrawn in december 2024, another draw to this route is the scenery, it's a lovely coastal route featuring plenty of historical locations and scenic views of the welsh coastline.
So if this DLC was made what trains would be included? well we have already seen the 158 in other routes so this would be add as a layer, but mostly I think it should be the Class 175 & 197, as we haven't seen them yet, the Class 805 Evero already has its own DLC so that would be another layer, layers wise there is plenty of options for AI traffic when it comes to Chester & Crewe.
sup yall so some of you may have noticed a sale going on for tsw6 on xbox. Its €15. I only need €10. Can someone maybe get me one?
With the May madness sale I think I can grab a ton. I already have 9: GWE Remastered, Tees Valley, Blackpool branches, WCML Shap, Riveria Line, XC voyager, Cajon Pass, Southeastern highspeed, and Kassel Wurzburg. I really like UK routes and want to get the 86 expansion for the WCML as well as maybe some ECML routes or more 80s UK. I’ve also heard the new Czech route is also really good. Aside from those I also want to look into the NEC routes and NYC routes hopefully those that have lots of layers. Any advice?
Had a genuinely good run on this, it's becoming one of my favourite routes to drive. The amount of detail is just insane. I'll definitely be getting their Trent Valley route.
