Looking for a safe/decent 3B/2B under $1200 - realistic options or wishful thinking?

Hey everyone,
Looking for a 3B/2B under $1200/month.I commute to Downtown daily, so I'm looking for something under a 20-minute drive from there.

Realistically, I know this budget won't get me into prime neighborhoods. I’ve looked at places like Lakes at Epping Way and The Vue at Claudette, but the safety/neighborhood warnings give me pause.
I don't need luxury, just a moderate, decent apartment or rental house where I don't have to constantly worry about my car or safety after dark.

Are there any specific pockets of town, hidden gem complexes, or older neighborhoods where $1200 can still get you a decent 3B/2B?

Or do I just need to adjust my expectations?
Appreciate any honest recommendations or complexes to look into/avoid!

Hey all, my H1B didn't get picked so I'm pivoting to Day 1 CPT.

My immigration lawyers advised a DBA over a second Master's for compliance reasons, so I ended up picking Belhaven University. I chose them mainly because the fees were much lower than the other colleges I researched. On-campus is in Mississippi, with some Dallas options.
Is anyone else starting here soon? If anyone is currently stressing over the research phase and wants to know more about the course structure or the CPT process, let me know. Happy to help out since navigating this is exhausting!

Just wanted to drop this here for anyone currently stressing about their OPT expiring and looking at Day 1 CPT options.

I dug through a lot of colleges and found Belhaven University to be one of the most affordable options right now. They require on-campus attendance in Mississippi (and sometimes Dallas).

If anyone needs help understanding the DBA program or the general course structure, hit me up. I can also refer you to get your tuition fees reduced. Just trying to pass on some help since the research phase is exhausting. DM me if you need anything!

Hey everyone,
I’m planning a small graduation party for about 14 people and looking for affordable restaurant options in Memphis/ cordova/ collierville/germantown , basically anywhere in Shelby county. Any cuisine is fine.
I was thinking a buffet or all-you-can-eat place might be the best option to keep the cost per person low. Ideally something that:
Can handle a group of ~14
Is reasonably priced (budget-friendly)
Decent food + good atmosphere
Any recommendations would really help. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys,

I bought a 2012 Honda Civic LX sedan for $7,000. It had about 76k miles at the time, and now it’s close to 92k miles.

So far I’ve replaced:

Tires

Brake pads and rotors

I don’t drive a lot each month, so I had a few questions:

Was this a decent deal overall?

How many miles can this car realistically last with proper maintenance?

For low driving, how often should I change oil (time vs miles)?

Any major maintenance I should be planning soon around 90k–100k miles?

Anything specific to watch out for on this model?

Also, if anyone owns or has owned a 2012 Civic, I’d like to hear your experience.

Thanks.

Hey everyone,

I’m exploring the DBA program at Belhaven University (Day 1 CPT) and wanted to see if anyone here is currently enrolled, planning to join, or has already completed the program.

I’m mainly looking to understand:

How the coursework and workload are

CPT process and compliance experience

Residency requirements and flexibility

Overall value of the program

Also open to connecting with others who are considering the same path.

Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking at apartments and came across Residences at Lakeview on South Mendenhall Rd. I wanted to ask if anyone has lived there or knows about it.

How safe is the area (especially at night)?

How is the apartment management and maintenance?

Any issues with crime, noise, or general living conditions?

Also, more generally:

What are the safest and still still affordable areas to live in Memphis?
