How do you compare payroll software options for a US-based company?

Our company is finally looking to move away from our current payroll system, but I'm not sure where to start with evaluating alternatives. There are so many payroll and HR software options out there that it’s becoming difficult to compare them properly.

I’ve looked through a few comparison sites, but the reviews seem inconsistent and pricing is often unclear until you actually speak with a sales team. It would be helpful to have a place where I can compare different providers, understand realistic pricing ranges, see honest pros and cons, and know what questions to ask during demos.

Since both our HR and IT teams will be involved in the decision, having some kind of evaluation checklist, comparison framework, or shared scorecard would be really useful.

Has anyone found a good way to research and compare payroll or HRIS platforms without relying only on vendor websites or sales pitches?

Indian Himalayas Advice Needed: Treks, Transport, Connectivity & Safety

I finally decided it is time to stop reading about the Himalayas and actually plan a trekking trip. The challenge is choosing where to go. Every region seems to have something different to offer: Ladakh's dramatic landscapes, Himachal's mountain villages, Uttarakhand's famous trekking routes and Sikkim's views and forests. Which one would you return to without hesitation? Was there a particular trek, valley or mountain experience that made the trip memorable?

I am comfortable with simple accommodation and long travel days if it means spending more time in the mountains. I would also appreciate any tips on altitude acclimatisation, food, healthcare access and safety in remote areas. With mobile connectivity, is it better to arrange an eSIM before arrival or get a local SIM in India? And how reliable is local transportation for reaching trailheads and moving between trekking areas?
