Precision Screw For VCO Calibration

I'm looking for a precision screw for my Rubicon 2 calibration. I already got one online but it's too big. The trimpots are completely minuscule!

What screw could I use? Im looking everywhere online and can't find anything.

Super 6 or Take 5

I know this has been asked before, however I’m really hung up on choosing between these two.

I’m a producer and my primary music source is my modular system, which is solely monophonic. I use it for all the weird and wonderful complex sound design.

I’m now looking for a polysynth to compensate for what my modular can’t do and I’ve narrowed my search down to these two.

My modular is all analog and I know the super 6 uses digital oscillators, which I’m not hugely bothered about, but the warmth of analog is always preferred.

I want something that’s going to offer longevity through complexity, so I don’t just want a one-trick pony. I know the super 6 offers more complex modulation but my understanding is that it’s slightly less intuitive. Will I be missing out on interesting sounds/ modulation if I go with the Take 5?

The synth will mostly be used for keys/ pads, maybe some basses. I’m used to lots of modulation with my modular so I don’t want to get bored with it lol.

Anyone have experience with both of these synths who can offer advice?

Abstract Copy Guidance

Hi there,

So, I’m planning a career change into copywriting, after 5/6 years working as a chef.

I have a background in music and hold a BA in English. Currently, I’m trying to scale out my portfolio. However, the only substantial work I have to include is all surrounding my releases/ radio shows as an artist.

I have press releases I have written alongside a lot of abstract, world-building driven copy and lyrics to songs. This is the work that feeds me and I enjoy using language in an abstract/ evocative way.

I would like to know where this type of work falls in the copywriting world. Clearly, for me it serves to build worlds in art, music and fashion.

I would appreciate some direction/ advice as a lot of guidance seems to fall heavily within the B2B, sales/ targets realm.

Thanks in advance!

Power Consumption in Cases

I’ve started my foray into modular about 6 months ago, and I have filled my case up pretty quickly.

I have a LC9 case with a PSU3. I’m posting as I have recently encountered some tuning issues with my analog oscillators which may or may not be related to overloading my case.

I never really considered the importance of keeping an eye on this stuff and I’m now wondering just how important it is.

How much headroom is recommended? What other problems could I encounter through overloading?

Also, is it straightforward to upgrade to a better PS?

Thanks

Ornament & Crime

I’m blown away by this module. God, it’s brilliant. It’s unlocked so much of my system.

Anyone here own multiple of this module? I’m seriously considering picking up another.

What are your favourite apps to use and how ?

O_c Note Display

I’m running v.2.0 Beta T40 on a micro o\_c and have tried everything to change numerical note values to musical notes.

I want to select notes on a scale not numbers!

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Best Groovebox/ Synth to Pair with a Modular System

I'm looking for a groove box capable of polyphony to pair with my modular system.

I've been looking at the Digitone... however would be interested in other suggestions, even polysynths with some crossover capabilities?

I'd like to hear how you compensate for polyphony.

Ornament & Crime Q

I’m looking to pick one up, primarily for quantisation, but not sure what is the latest or best 3u iteration.

I’m choosing this over Intellijel Scales as I’m not into performance so, won’t need something that is hands on- more set and forget.

Also, what are the possibilities of running 2x quantiser programs at the same time- can I have 2 scales running into 2 different oscillators?

Rubicon 2 slightly off-tune

I own two Rubicon 2s and noticed the older one is slightly off. 1 tunes at C the older one is coming in at C sharp.

Is this an easy fix to calibrate ?

Pivot From Hospitality

I’m 33 and have been working as a chef in a well-established, busy restaurant. I have picked up, what I believe, to be a lot of transferable skills here- organisation, running a busy service… staying calm.

I’m working 45-50 hour pw, not even on London Living wage and I am pretty sick of it. Physically it’s a job that leaves no room for balance- no social life, no exercise… generally a very poor lifestyle.

I have previously worked office jobs before in account management, and at this point would be happy to entertain a little less intensity and better balance these jobs offer.

I have an English degree, can apply myself well generally to any task and would love some type of role that would be more creative-leaning long-term.

However, at this point I’m pretty desperate for an exit out of hospitality.

I kindly would ask for some direction or advice !

Modulation Routing

How are you treating your modulation signal before it reaches its destination ?

I have had interesting results using wavefolders/ filters and of course sending it through maths/ attenuverters.

I now have quite a lot of modulation (NT, Multimod, 2x Maths) and want to be able to harness it to be utilised in interesting ways.

I was thinking about picking up a matrix mixer, but I currently own let’s splosh and Jumbler, so I feel this already takes that role.

Matrix Mixers

How often do you use yours? Does it really unlock a lot?

I’m have quite a lot of modulation sources in my case and also interested in pushing feedback patches.

Is it worth the HP?

Case/ patch Inspiration

I’ve been working with this set up for some time, but often find I’m reaching for the same patches.

I think a fresh pair of eyes may help direct me to something new.

I only work in sound design so nothing performance related or sequencing related is needed. Steppy is used to trigger modulation envs.

Open to suggestions of new modules!

Logic Modules Question

Just how useful and practical are logic modules in the context of a case built purely for sound design?

I am a producer and record into my DAW to edit and process the audio.

I notice a lot of the logic modules are built around systems for performance/ generative/ full track production.

What do you think?

Best/ most creative envelope generator.

I’ve been using maths mostly for envelopes- I love the flexibility and control I have over them. However, I feel I would get more use out of maths if I had a dedicated EG module.

I have previously eyed up quadrax, but I’m interested to know what else could be a better option.

Weird envelope shapes for modulation is what I would like!
