ASUS laptop won’t power on unless I hold the button for several seconds - what’s causing this?

My old ASUS laptop (FX53VD) has developed a problem where it will not power on with a normal press of the power button. I have to hold the button down for several seconds every single time to get it to start. Once it boots, it works normally. When I shut it down, the power‑button LED turns off completely, but a separate LED with a light‑bulb icon stays on even after shutdown. The charging behavior is also inconsistent unless I force a hard shutdown by holding the power button.

Inside the laptop, the charging port is connected by an 8‑wire DC‑jack cable (four red wires and four black wires). I’m trying to figure out whether this startup issue is caused by a failing DC‑jack harness feeding standby power incorrectly, an AC‑detect problem, or an embedded controller (EC) issue on the motherboard. Has anyone seen this combination of symptoms before or know which part is most likely failing?

Broken Souvenir from Mexico. How should I fix it?

I just got back from a trip from Mexico. I purchased a souvenir of Quetzalcoatl, an Aztec deity. Its about 14 inches tall. It weighs around 6 lbs. Unfortunately, it broke during transit. The inside is hollow. Im not sure what its made out of. Is anyone able to suggest a way to fix it? I can place both broken pieces together and it looks correct. I just dont know how to hold it all in place.

Provided below are the pictures and what CoPilot suggested I do:

To fix it, first cut a short metal rod (like a nail with the head cut off) so that part of it goes into the base cavity and part into the head cavity, but not so long that the two pieces can’t fully close together. Then mix a small amount of epoxy putty and press some inside the base cavity, push one end of the rod into that putty, and let it start to grab. Do the same inside the head cavity with the other end of the rod, but don’t fill either cavity all the way—keep the putty a bit away from the rim so it doesn’t reach the seam. Once the rod is embedded on both sides and the putty is still workable, put a thin layer of liquid glue (super glue or 2‑part epoxy glue) just on the broken edges, then press the head onto the body in the correct position and hold it firmly so the seam closes tight. The liquid glue bonds the seam cleanly and the putty inside hardens around the rod and the rough interior, creating a hidden “bone” that makes the neck strong enough to lift by the head without needing sanding or painting.

I will be going to Teotihuacan tomorrow and had a few questions. I plan on getting as soon as they open at 800am. I dont think they accept credit cards, so I will be bringing cash. But I dont know how much to bring. I plan on eating there and getting A LOT of souvenirs and at least one big souvenir either from a gift shop (if there is one) or from the Talleres de Obsidiana area. How much should I plan to take?
