IR/Radar stealth in a near-future space warfare setting (i.e The Lunar War)?

Is stealth practical or otherwise relevant in cislunar combat? as in, does it even make a difference when it comes to the survivability onion?

what are your thoughts on this

Due to some *slight* copyright issues with the Chinese space forces, I present to you a redone, and much better looking, Wernher Von Braun class Corvette

Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/1vp64rx/from_my_take_on_the_lunar_war_by_l5resident_i/

So, I decided to whip up a newer version of the Von Braun class, mainly to make a new design visually different from that of the Type-711A. I tried to follow the design language of the Altair class NEMM European Frigate.

The mods used are listed in the original post.

from my take on The Lunar War by L5Resident, I present to you the Wernher Von Braun class, a German Corvette

Drawing on the success of the European NESS frigate, the Räummarine (Space Navy in german btw, not that creative I know) decided to make a smaller, simpler ship for convoy duties, customs enforcement, as well as a supporting ship in larger fleet maneuvers. It's powered by nein (you get it?) Vinci engines (Poodles in KSP), which give it quite decent acceleration and dV.

It's armament is quite simple, being equipped with 32 VLS cells, as well as internal magazine storage for a total of 64 KKVs. As for defenses, it comes with two SpaceRanger 30 PDCs (Milennium Cannon in KSP), derived from the ground-based SkyRanger 30.

Mods used:

-->Near Future Suite
-->Tweakscale
-->BDA+
-->BDA Extended
-->Sterling Technologies

Do y'all like it?

The Agamemmon, the Dunatian Congressional Republic's newest warship

So, I decided to try my hand at a "The Expanse" inspired warship, and this is the (IMO quite lovely) result. It's about 30m long, 6.1m wide and 5.7m tall.

The engine is an upscaled (Restock textures) KR-2L+ Rhino, and the rest of the hull consists of Tweakscaled Near Future Launch Vehicles tanks surrounded by recolored (TURD) procedural parts.

It's equipped with three quad VLS cells, together with a point defence grid of 6 37-6 CIWS, which are both from BDAe. It also has an internal magazine of another 12 HEKV-1s that reloads the VLS cells.

dV is 4219 Vac, and it uses LF+Ox RCS

The 1st Cismunar Fleet's Tsiolkovsky class Frigate

Just got into building The Lunar War style warships, and this is my second (and best) design so far.

It's equipped with 320 HEKV-1 missiles distributed along two rows of quad VLS cells, and has a pretty strong point defense grid, formed by 6 Oerlikon 30mm "Milennium Cannons" and 6 37mm CIWS.

With its external fuel tanks, it has around 4500m/s of dV. It's powered by 6 KR-2L+ "Rhino" engines (TWR[w/ drop tanks]: 0.78) and uses LF/Ox RCS.

Mods used:

-Sterling Technologies Thermal (radiators)
-BDA+ (obviously)
-BDA Extended (VLS cells and 37mm CIWS)
-TweakScale
-Near Future Launch Vehicles (RCS and rear fuel tanks)
-Procedural Parts (front section)
-TURD (recoloring for procedural parts)
-TUFX (visual post-processing)
-Waterfall (engine effects)
-Restock (engine reskin)

[BDA] What are the best options for a spaceship point defence grid?

So, I'm currently trying to make some form of space combat cinematics, but I'm struggling to find a coherent option for smaller ships. Goalkeepers are efficient but too large, m230s aren't capable enough and Vulcans only have limited traverse. Any ideas?

The Kerbal Aeronautics and Space Administration (KASA)'s report on Year 2 spaceflight

This is a not-relatable-to-any-politician-or-famous-figure sequel to my post KASA Year 1 report, which is part of an alternate timeline I'm working on, represented in KSP.

Feel free to give constructive criticism of any sort, and also to give ideas for the next years.

Thank you and enjoy!

The Kerbal Interplanetary Research Komitee (KIRK)'s report on Year 1 spaceflight

A little historically inspired (for now it follows reality but I intend to change that as the years go on) timeline of mine.

Feel free to tell me what you like /dislike of my take on narrating and history.

Suggestions for what to do next are welcome.

Thanks!
