Thinking of moving from a 718 GTS 4.0 to a 992.1 Base/T/S. Will I miss the visceral feel?

Hey everyone,

I’ve had my 2024 718 GTS 4.0 for coming up on about six months or so now (currently in the high teens, approaching 20k miles). It has an unlimited mile CPO warranty until 2030, and whoever specced it originally chose options that make it easier to move if needed.

Honestly, the car is awesome. The high-revving N/A powertrain, the engine sound, and the transmission are all incredible. I also genuinely love the more analog interior, it gives me the tactile feel I want while still supporting CarPlay. (I came from an RS5 and an RS3 before this, and realized giant modern screens everywhere just aren't a priority for me - even thought I don’t mind them)

But… like many of us, owning a 911 has always been the ultimate dream.

I strongly prefer the 992.1 generation over the 991, but the current market is making this tricky. Because of the avoidance behavior around the new hybrid 992.2 GTS, the 992.1 GTS prices are holding extremely high. That realistically leaves me looking at 992.1 Base models, a Carrera T (if I can find a one that isn't transacting for $150k+), or maybe an S with around 20,000 miles.

Stepping up to a GT3 just isn’t in the budget right now.
So, my question is for those who have made the jump from a 6-cylinder 718 or 981 to a 992 Base/T/S:

-Was the jump worth it? Do you ever regret it or miss your 718?
-Will it feel like a step back? My GTS 4.0 already has a bunch of the driving goodies included out of the box. Will a Base, T, or S feel less dynamic and less visceral compared to the 4.0 platform?

Sometimes I worry that in order to get the same raw driving feel I currently have, I'd have to step up to a GT3 on the 992+ 911 platform.

Would love to get this group's view, especially from anyone who has gone down this path as well!

Thank you!

GTS is PPF’d and ready to head to Velocity!

Got my 718 PPF’d and finally washed it before heading to Velocity this weekend, found this airfield / open area and decided to snap a few pics.
