Asian tea caddy, what’s it made out of? And possibly how old?

I found this at an antique store, but I don’t know what it’s made out of and how old it is. Anything helps

She’ll care question

She has this opaque crust like buildup all over her shell. I tried to snag a pic before she jumped in the water but she’s camera shy. I’ve seen turtles with super clear and vibrant shells before and I don’t know if that’s just how she looks and it’s fine or if I could do any cleaning and clear the shell up. My theory was molt that got stuck and left over but I’m unsure.
