Factory tour today: Rattan furniture factory

The factory I visited this morning is a furniture factory. Their main products are rattan furniture, such as sofas and chairs. Tonight after I go back home, I will finish this factory report and post it on my blog. Below are some random photos of the factory.

an honest brain dump from my life as a sourcing agent based in Foshan, Guangdong

Every single day, I hit the road to tour 2 to 4 different factories. But here’s the reality—my vetting standards are brutal. Out of all the factories I inspect in a week, maybe only one makes it into my partner directory. Sometimes, none of them do. I write up completely independent, unbiased, and objective reports on every single factory I scout, and I publish them directly on my blog.

When I sit down with factory bosses, I make one thing crystal clear right from the start: I do not accept kickbacks, rebates, or hidden commissions.

To be honest, a lot of them are shocked, but it instantly earns me massive respect. In an industry where under-the-table deals are practically the norm, an agent who outright refuses kickbacks is a rare breed to them. But I tell them straight up—I have my principles and my boundaries. The upfront service fee I charge my clients is more than enough for me.

And because of this transparent, no-BS attitude, something amazing happens. Since I’m not eating into the factory’s profit margins with hidden fees, the owners are actually willing to pass those savings onto my clients. They offer much lower MOQs (Minimum Order Quantities) and better pricing. This is a massive win for small-to-medium distributors. You no longer have to lose sleep over sky-high MOQ requirements that you just can't meet.

To be completely vulnerable with you guys, I don't know if this business model will immediately win the trust of overseas distributors. It's a long game, and trust takes time to build. But I’m going to keep pushing forward. I truly believe that if you do the right thing long enough, it will eventually pay off—every flower has its time to bloom.

Wishing all of you guys a happy and successful day, every single day! ~
