Hey guys,
I’m originally from Nepal but currently living in the UK (I did my bachelor's in the UK as well), working in Cybersecurity for a US Fintech company. I’ve been following this sub for a bit and seeing a lot of posts about career confusion and the struggle to get into the international market.
I wanted to open up a thread to help out anyone who’s interested in Security or just curious about how things work in the US tech scene.
Happy to chat about:
- How to actually get into Cyber (it’s not just "hacking," as we know).
- Which certs are actually worth your money and which are a waste of time.
- Resumes and how to handle interviews for foreign companies.
- The reality of working in Fintech (compliance, stress, pay, etc.).
I remember how confusing it was when I was starting out back home, so feel free to ask anything. No such thing as a "stupid question."
Will try to reply to as many as I can between work!
> >Alright guys, I’ve gotta head out now. Glad I could share some insights! (hopefully) > >The tech scene in Nepal has so much potential and it’s really amazing to see so many of you grinding. Don't stress too much about the AI hype or having every single certification - just keep building, stay curious and focus on the fundamentals. > >Huss ta, GLHF.
I hope this time I don’t get attacked by daal/dry police.
