Found the best AI voice for my faceless channels and in never switching

I’ve been testing different AI voiceover tools for my faceless shorts workflow, and after trying a bunch of them, I honestly think ElevenLabs is the one that makes the most sense for what I’m doing. My workflow is usually something like this: I use AI to come up with the video idea and script, then I polish or rewrite it in ChatGPT, generate AI images or image prompts for the visuals, and finally edit the whole thing in CapCut with captions, music, pacing, and transitions. Earlier I thought the voiceover was just one small part of the process, but after posting more videos I realised it actually makes a huge difference. A bad AI voice instantly makes the whole video feel low-effort, even if the script and visuals are decent.

I tried ElevenLabs, Murf, PlayHT, LOVO, and Speechify mainly for short-form content, storytelling videos, Reddit-style narration, AI tool videos, and faceless explainer shorts. Murf felt clean and polished, but a bit too corporate for my style. PlayHT had some nice voices, but I had to spend more time adjusting things to get the delivery right. LOVO had decent variety, especially if you want different character-like voices, but I didn’t find the quality equally consistent across all scripts. Speechify is fine for basic text-to-speech, but for faceless shorts it felt more like a reading tool than a proper narration tool. ElevenLabs was the one that consistently gave me the most natural sound with the least amount of fixing. The voices had better emotion, better pacing, and sounded less robotic, which matters a lot when you’re trying to hold attention in the first few seconds of a short.

For me, ElevenLabs ended up being the best overall in terms of voice quality, ease of use, speed, and value for money. I don’t want to say the others are bad because they all have their own use cases, but if you’re making faceless shorts and need realistic narration that doesn’t instantly scream “AI voice,” ElevenLabs is the one I’d pick first. I want to start by sayinb that i know that the 2 plans are not the same cost. But for my use case they have had the same capabilities till now. So what i use them for- im not a tech person or someone who knows anything about AI till about a couple months ago when i shofted from chat gpt to claude as my mobile ai app. It made beautiful pitch decks for my work and helped alot more than got could at that point as i believe the chat version is more inquisitive in claude(asks questions, formulates plan, somehwat customisable). So i started working with it on my mac. Got the desktop app, made skills connected google drive it started doing my work for me. But limits were tough and i had heard about cowork so i got the pro plan and made skills that ran everyday at a scheduled time to gather all my work, then asked permissions and did it basically. On the side i started tinkering with youtube faceless channels. Now cowork has limitations and costs alot so i started using the code section in the desktop app(basically claude code but with better ui). Now came limits really still bothering even though better than they were in cowork.

I took the max 5x plan. 0-20-100$ within 2 weeks. Now it makes about 1-2 excel sheets, max 1 pitch deck a week and 5-6 faceless reels a week for me while constantly hitting limits and work getting carried over to next sessions. In comes the free offer from gpt to upgrade to pmus and get access to codex. For those of you who dont know what it is, like me, its somewhere between cowork and code, so way more intuitive and builds at about the same level. That is what i understood after reading a bit cuz i had a free offer to claim and upon knowing this i was like okay, lets give it a shot and well just cancel it if its not nice. Anyway investing 100$ a month elsewhere. But i installed it. It asked what it can view for context, i thought id give it my folder that i used for claude code for all md files etc(my api keys etc are in a separate file system). Then i said make your own codex md and decisions md and mistakes md etc and get all the data of the skills i regularlu used and set up the identical environment for me. It asked for access once and took about 5 minites and it was READY! THe same skills, workflows, agents, everytging. I could run any pipeline to the same efficiency but before actually testing i checked my session limit to check how much did this setup use. Mind you codex also has a 5 hour session and a separate weekly limit.

The setup had used 18%. Remaining session usage was at 82%. I was blown away. This on myax 5x wouldve used 30-40% of my session limit easy any day! Then i made the whole week’s videos using my pipeline and did quality checkes which all turned out amazing! It infact made a few upgrades and gave me video animations in a certain part i wouldve had to setup alot. And finally with 6 videos after setting uo the same environment, upgrading it, using it to make these 6 videos, i am at 51% limit remaining. On a 20$ plan!!!!! I have already cancelled my anthropic subscription. Have made a full backyp of my work to codex. And am willing to upgrade my billing here but never anthrppic until they fix their usage limits cuz its clear it should be the case!
