Built an app called SafeKeep after getting frustrated with old-school cluttered cloud-connected vault apps that felt outdated, bloated, and overcomplicated.
I built SafeKeep because the vault apps that are available didn’t make me trust them with genuinely sensitive data, specially with cloud storage and ads.
I wanted something that felt modern, premium, fast, and genuinely private.
So I built SafeKeep. I wanted the app’s security model to be very intentional and transparent.
• fully offline
• no cloud sync
• no servers
• no telemetry
• no online account creation
• no ads
• no tracking
• no data ever leaving your device
On the security side, I implemented:
• AES-256-GCM encryption using native Apple CryptoKit
• per-file random salt + nonce generation
• biometric authentication with Face ID / Touch ID
• configurable auto-lock
• encrypted backup exports
• optional auto-wipe after failed attempts
• decoy vault support for duress situations
• app blurred from multi-tasking menu
• in-memory-only password handling
A big focus for me to make it feel elegant and calming instead of technical with flashing colours everywhere.
I wanted something that felt closer to a premium consumer app while still taking privacy seriously.
Been polishing the experience for months and finally decided to share it publicly.
