Found a very nice batch

Found a very nice batch

Most of these were dirt cheap, with the exception of Capernaum, but it's fantastic and worth every penny 😉

I'm very happy with this haul and can't wait to watch the Planet of the Apes trilogy back to back for the first time.

I'm also pretty happy about finding Punch Drunk Love even though it's just a DVD, because the blu-ray is 34€ new, and I'm paying that much.

My buddy gave me these

I stored some stuff for my friend upstairs for a couple of years and when he came to pick it all up he just asked me if I wanted his CDs, and I said hell yeah.

A couple of these I'm pretty sure I've never even listened to, but I'm particularly excited about adding the Gang Starr and Mobb Deep to the collection.

There were some more too, but they had missing discs, or random discs with no cases. He had two copies of Kid Cudi's first album, and both were missing the disc lol.

Found some gems at the thirft store

I rarely buy movies I haven't seen, but Sovinto (Finnish title) I found at Goodwill, and it looks good, so I picked it up. It's actually a Swedish film called Svinalängrona, and goes by Beyond (2010) in English, which is kinda funny, because all three titles are completely different from each other, and I have no clue which one makes the most sense.

Celebrity is not my favorite Woody Allen movie, but it's one I don't think I've ever even seen second hand, especially on blu-ray, and this one was still sealed, so I grabbed it.

Goodfellas wasn't sealed but basically looks untouched, and is some sort of deluxe edition, downscaled form the new 4k scan, apparently, and comes with a pretty thick booklet.

I've also been wanting to get the whole Planet of the Apes trilogy, since I haven't seen each one since they came out, and never all three in a row, but haven't happened to find nice condition copies while thrifting. However, now I found a sealed copy of the second part, so I got it. Now I just need to find the other two. I might pick them up online.

Bought some actual DVDs for a change

Since I started collecting physical film again, I've only bought Blu-rays, but I recently got some DVDs from my mom, and to my surprise, they don't look awful on a modern 4K TV, as long as you're not close to the TV.

So, I decided I'm gonna start grabbing great movie I find cheap on DVD, and just upgrade them later if I find them at a decent price on blu-ray.

But I don't wanna just fill up my shelves with cheap DVDs, and buy every one I run into that I like, so I'm gonna keep it to movies I actually love, and leave the rest at the thirft store.

I raided my mom's DVDs

I've been collecting only blu-rays for a while now, but today I noticed my mom still had some DVDs lying around, even though they haven't owned a player in at least 15 years, so naturally I went through them.

Deep Blue Sea I remember watching a bunch back in the day, but haven't seen it in at least 20 years, Amadeus is just a great movie that I saw once more than a decade ago and wouldn't mind watching again, and Frantic I don't even know if I've ever seen, so I'm curious to see if it's any good.

I don't know what I'll do with these once I've watched them, since I don't intend to start buying more DVDs, but they are in great condition, so maybe I'll just let them sit on the shelf regardless.

I still can't believe he made one of my favorite albums this deep into his career. It's just banger beats and top-notch rhymes. It doesn't get more simple than that, and still it's somehow insanely good.
