Sand- vs Trockeneisstrahlen

Hi,

Was darf sowas kosten?

Modest Sound Upgrade

Hi there,

so the speaker wire running to my driver’s door speaker has broken, so the speaker only works intermittently. I’m going to replace the wiring and figured I might as well replace both door speakers while I’m at it.

I have the Infinity system with separate midbass drivers and tweeters. I’d also like to add some sound deadening to the doors.

Can anyone recommend speakers that are a noticeable upgrade over stock, with a fairly neutral sound? I want to keep the factory head unit, so they need to have high sensitivity and work well without an additional amp. They should also fit the factory locations and have a suitable mounting depth.
And for the sound deadening: should I focus on the outer door skin, the inner door panel, or both?

New tires that can do it all

Hi there,

I’m fixing up my Cherokee wich stood still for 7 years. I want to use it as a wedding car next month. The tires are done (Coopers Discoverer AT3 in 245/70-R16) and I need a fresh pair.

My Cherokee ist a completely stock 97 Limited in stone white. Realistically I won’t do any crazy off-roading and it won’t be a daylie driver either. I’m gonna take my fiancée to the ice cream parlor if the weather is nice, maybe if I can convince her we’re gonna buy a roof tent and drive through the Italian Alps.

Thing is I really liked the look of my old tires, but I had an accident on a wet road and I didn’t like the tires performance. Any recommendation for some road oriented AT tires that behave well on the pavement and don’t suck when you take them off-road (as off road as you would take a stock XJ)? Should be available in Germany/Europe.

My repair shop offered me some Yokohama G018 118/115 that I know nothing about.

Advanced sipper recommendations

Hi everyone,
I’ve been into rum for a few years now, and my gateway into the category was Tiki culture. Most of my collection has been built around making Tiki cocktails, so I already own bottles like Appleton 8 and 12, various unaged and aged overproof rums, several rhum agricoles (especially blancs), black blended Jamaicans, and lightly aged Spanish-style rums.
Now I’m looking for something different: a bottle that’s primarily meant for sipping.
My budget is roughly 50 - about 100€. I’m looking for something genuinely exciting and characterful - but not an extreme ester bomb that you only pull out once to impress your friends, and also not one of those “easy transition from whisky to rum” recommendations (i.e. a rum that mostly tastes like oak).
I’d also be happy with something above 40% ABV.
What would you recommend? I’m open to all styles and origins as long as it’s an interesting sipper. Thanks!

Licht in den Vape Dschungel

Aloha zusammen,

What tf ist shatter?

Buying on the west coast of Puglia

Hi everyone,

my girlfriend and I (in our 30s, from Germany) are currently dreaming about buying a house in Apulia as a holiday home.

Were planing to become Parents and after the birth of our child, we’ll be having one year of „Elternzeit“ each (paid parental leave - about 70% salary). We would love to spend that entire year living in our Italian house. After that, the property would mainly be used as a holiday home, and possibly be rented out wenn its season and were not there.

We’re especially interested in the west coast of Apulia (Salento). We’re not looking at first-row coastal hotspots like Nardò or Gallipoli, but rather quieter towns in the “second line” inland — places like Sannicola, Tuglie, Parabita, Racale, etc. Our budget is around €120,000.

Until yesterday we were extremely enthusiastic while browsing listings on Idealista, Immobiliare, and similar platforms. Then we started reading in this subreddit about buying property in Apulia… and honestly, we haven’t found many positive experiences so far.

So we’d really appreciate some honest perspectives:

- Is buying a house in southern Apulia really as difficult as Reddit sometimes makes it sound?
- What are the biggest downsides or risks people underestimate?
- Is it really that dead outside of season?
- Are there also success stories or “light at the end of the tunnel”?

Would love to hear from owners, expats, Italians, or anyone with first-hand experience.

Thanks a lot!

▲ 5 r/rum

Hi there,

I’m currently in Mauritius and would love some advice from the rum community.

Which Mauritian rum is actually worth bringing home? And are there any distilleries here that offer a really interesting tour?

The supermarket shelves are full of very cheap cane spirits and cane liqueurs — that’s not really what I’m looking for. I usually enjoy aged rums, but I’m especially fond of rhum agricole styles.

Are there any Mauritian rums produced in a way similar to agricole (fresh cane juice rather than molasses)?

Thanks a lot in advance for your recommendations!
