Coop placement?

Coop placement?

We have 3 new silkie chicken babies!
They’re currently in their coop/run settling for the next few days before being let out to roam the garden.

We’re, however, looking for some advice on the permanent home for our coop before we let them out.

We have pavement slabs in one portion of the garden, it’s laid underneath some heavy forestry and stays basically completely dry all year round (UK).

Or do we leave them on the grass?

We have lovely weather coming but come autumn we get a lot of rain, our garden has decent drainage but will eventually turn muddy.

We’re also planing in August to build them a sheltered run (they’ll be free roam until rainy weather begins).

We’re new to chicken keeping and want to do best by our silkies as these are family pets. I’ve done my research but this is a difficult subject to find answers for, or maybe I’m just over thinking it.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated especially from veterans to a newbie

New silkies

Collected our new babies yesterday!
(2 mottled and a ginger)
We have flora, yolky and our grey mottled will be named by a competition we’re holding for the kids in our family.
So happy 🥰
