Mishka is 4 today!
And because I'm a sad git I obviously got her presents
The squeaking mouse ball toy is a big hit so far; a treat stick will be given shortly, and she gets some canned salmon tonight as a birthday dinner

... From our (superior) knitting advice related sub
This is because your project did not contain twisted stitches, which is the only problem people who knit can possibly have
...
You've also been banned, as you're probably a dirty crocheter
Kthx
My geography isn't always the best but the fact that some places are different to where they actually are (to suit the art) made this a bit harder than I thought it would be 😂
As always with Gibsons it was fantastic quality, both the artwork and the pieces themselves
You can credit me as the starter of this trend. You're welcome 🐥
Why are knitting subs so catty?? Why so many downvotes and why are people so rude to people just living their lives with their hobby???? If you have shit to say either shut up or come say it in this sub? Maybe I'm just too sensitive for the internet.
Edit: I invite you to cruise through my posts if you're curious.
I got this jigsaw having seen it positively talked about on this sub. I won't hold it against you that I found out absolutely terrible 😂
The subject matter is great. 100% on board with passive aggressive fish, artwork is lovely, wonderful idea
But the build quality
Seriously
Pieces came bent straight out of the bag
They're cracked around the edges in many places
Even when the pieces are correct it's difficult to put them together, making you think you've got it wrong
It doesn't seem to lie flat, which I've noticed with thin, cheap cut jigsaws, but not one of this thickness
The fish are glossy, with the background being matte, making them a sensory nightmare if you have dry hands/fingers, but that's probably a more niche issue
Overall if I'd have bought this from a physical shop or direct from the manufacturer I would've complained to high hell. Unfortunately cause I'm in the UK I had to get it through an online retailer and it's not worth the hassle
It's going to my mum to do and then I'm going to stick it on a secondhand sales website. Very rare I don't keep a jigsaw, but first time for everything
(I still haven't found it)
Heyyyy so I accidentally used two different dye lots in my tapestry project for a friend and noticed way too late because I'm oblivious. Any creative suggestions to working around this issue rather than admit my mistake? I'm not frogging it bc it's not that serious, despite the fact it looks shit now, but I'm curious to see what everyone here has to suggest although I prefer if you all say about how good it looks and how it's "intentional" to give it "depth" and to look like it's on a "countertop"!
I borrowed this from my manager at work (after we had a discussion around jigsaws in the office, as you do) and it took 10 hours, measured in audiobooks
Slight problem is that there's one piece missing, so now it's a case of "Was that me, or was it missing when it was loaned to me?" especially as the box has a rip in the corner and the pieces weren't in a bag. One of my cats also decided it was a great jigsaw to wander all over too, but I (extremely scientifically) tried to attach a piece to various parts of her fur to check adherence. Ravensburger pieces are too thick/heavy to attach, and even my cheaper jigsaws don't seem to stick, so I doubt it's her. Rest of my weekend will be searching for that piece just in case it was me before giving it back on Monday 🥲
It's not intentional but I refuse to accept that I've learnt to knit from a YouTube video made by someone who's only been knitting 5 minutes and thinks they're the bee's knees despite them also twisting their stitches
That is all
(By the way, isn't my project so unique and original? #foxcardigan)
My friend shredded loads of papers and gave me the box to use for an enrichment activity for my APH. Except I'm thinking she can't have it, especially as it's not been dust extracted (which would be the rule for other small animals like rats)
Am I completely wrong and she'd be fine with it, or should I stick it in the recycling and politely refuse any future offers?
Evening all. It's your favourite* friendly** awesome*** mod here
We've noticed an uptick in the "Damn it Terry" revelation posts recently
While we understand that re-reads (or even first reads) of Terry's work often get this reaction, it seems that these posts are a comment on a book line without anything more than a "look what I noticed!", which is coming dangerously close to our ruling on Low Effort Content for quotes without discussion prompts
But it's you lot that make our sub what it is, so we're wondering what you would prefer us to do? There's a small poll attached and we'd appreciate a general idea on which direction the sub wants to go
It'll close in 72 hours so when that happens I'll try to get whatever change (if any) implemented by the end of the week
Feel free to post any questions you want to ask before making a decision and I'll do my best to answer
Thanks in advance all and be good****

* subjective

**** and/or don't get caught
Since 2019 I've only done 3 of these (Unseen University Library, Granny Weatherwax's Cottage, and the Ankh-Morpork Map) so I'm challenging myself to do them all before buying the 3 I'm missing*
Anyone got any feedback on the new Mappa Jigsaw versus the old Spear's Games Mapp? I'm not sure if I should get the new one!
If you've done any of these, which was your favourite? And which have you hated? 😂

* It's definitely not that 2 of those 3 are currently out of stock**
** You can prove nothing
But I've only been crocheting for 5 minutes so my stitches are a bit rubbish. Don't mention it or else I'll cry
And for those who don't want to/can't visit the BBC news site...

'World's first' pin factory restored with £150,000
A pin factory thought to be one of the first in the world has been successfully renovated thanks to £150,000 of funding.
The Pin Factory Annexe in Gloucester began life as a tithe barn in the 16th Century but was converted into an industrial setting for women and children to produce clothes pins from 1743.
Historic England allocated the funding so the façade of annexe could be restored and the sash windows replaced to maintain the structural integrity of the building.
Louise Williams, chief executive of the Folk of Gloucester, a historic complex housing the annexe, said the building needed to be honoured to "make sure that it lasts for another 500 years".
... and overnight some teenage girls, giggling like maniacs, pulled it off and legged it down the road
The plan to go get a screw kit to fix it today has gone out the window to instead wait until the garage round the corner opens tomorrow to ask if they can print me a new one
Questions:
I obviously can't drive without one but I'm guessing if I'm driving to get one, with proof, I'm alright?
When it's clearly teenagers doing teenage things do I need to report it to police (and insurance)?
Unfortunately there were no local traffic cones else my car may have been spared...
