Best solution if couple has one fob?

So our building won’t let us have two fobs for reasons I wouldn’t bore you with.

I’ve cut another key for the door, no issues there. Just have one fob.

We both work at different times, go abd come back at different times.

What’s the best solution to ensure we have the fob to get into the building? We can then let the other person in once one of us is in the flat ofc.

Might be strange but what’s the best guide here, please no “talk to your building manager and get them to copy the fob” etc we’ve tried that

Rent To Buy property question

So I’m living in a flat that is on a rent to buy scheme, and it says on the tenancy that no one must live in the property beside myself.

I have a partner who occasionally stays over, their main residence is with their parents and comes over 3/4 times a day and stays over.

Are the letting agent can they really tell me who can or can’t stay with me or however long?

It says on the tenancy that no one besides me can live with me for more than four weeks, which is crazy

Many thanks

Does anyone know what access control system this is

Blocked out the building name, there are no marking on the entrance code - is it Paxton or something else?

Estate agent asking for payment through the phone?

Estate Agent taking deposit & first months rent over the phone

So I’ve gone and seen the place, paid a deposit (through bank), got a reservation confirmation email with the amount to pay for my deposit and first months rent.

Now they are saying that someone will contact me shortly on the phone for me to pay it.

My question is, how safe is it and is it common to take payment like this over the phone rather than giving me bank details instead?

The company is L&Q

Booking my driving test - what car to use?

I’m booking a driving test for the first time, I did not realise you had to provide your own car. I thought we would be given one to drive at the centre.

Now there’s not many centres near me that has a close date, all are about 5 months away. Some outer cities has closer dates, but I doubt my instructor would travel out.

What car do I use in this case if my instructor refuses to travel out?

I don’t have a car if my own

Many thanks,

Hi,

I’m trying to complete the reference form to get a tenancy.

I’ve listed two, one from employer and another from current letting agent.

Letting agent done theirs, but employer is taking forever. It’s been 4 days now, I’ve asked and it’s always “I’ll do it today” and I cannot get anyone else in my organisation (it’s small) and I’ve got a deadline

What happens if they don’t do it? Will my tenancy agreement be declined?

I don’t make a lot of money so eating out is usually a treat once every two months or so, and I’m usually paying for 2.

For me it’s cocktails as they are usually in the £10/14 range. I always think it’s not worth it to pay for a drink when it’s the same cost as a main.

I usually opt for mocktail (sometimes it’s about £6/8…) or a coke

That or a £15 salad which doesn’t feel like good value for money

Hi,

Let me just show you the emails below, first email is from me to them

I wanted to follow up and explain my situation in a bit more detail. I’ve recently secured a new job, and the commute by public transport from my current flat is quite far. As I don’t drive, I’ve been looking for a place closer to work to make things more manageable day to day. I’ve now found a property, and they’ve offered me a provisional move in date of 27 May, which they won’t budge, hence why I called you today to discuss as I have only just found out. I will send them another email to see if they can budge the move in date a little later, and will get back if they agree but they were quite firm on the move in date when I called them.

Given this, I wanted to ask whether it might be possible to agree on a shorter notice period. If everything goes smoothly with referencing, I would be looking at giving notice on 15/05/2026 (in line with my rent date) and vacating the property by 14/06/2026. I would ensure the flat is fully moved out, cleaned, and in excellent condition by that date. I’ve really appreciated living in the flat and have taken great care of it throughout my tenancy, so I am keen to leave on good terms.

Additionally, I wanted to ask if, for any reason, my referencing doesn’t go through and I’m unable to proceed with the new property, would it be possible to retract my notice? I would have no one else to fall back on

————————

The email below is from them after the email above

Thank you for your email.
We have accepted your notice and can confirm the end date will be 14th June 2026.
Please do let me know if you will require any further days/dates. We will be in touch to arrange viewings at the property. Your check out inspection will be booked with No Letting Go.

———-

My question is, is this a valid notice? I havnt given them notice yet but it seems like they accepted it?

I was hoping to give them notice on 15th of May this month but it seams like they already accepted it

I will contact them in the morning but just want to know where I stand as it’s currently 2am

Many thanks,

Any posts that someone post Reddit that you think is just made up to engage, or just for fun, or they are bored and want to have that “notification” feeling of someone talking to them.

For me it’s posts about relationship with something along the lines of “my bf/gf beats me for asking questions as to why they are always late coming home when they finish at 3pm and they always have to shower when they arrive”

If I click on 5 points, but click again and get 3 points, would my final point be 5 or 3?

Would it only be the first click?

I failed my first and I believe I always do it too early and don’t click again. So I failed as I got about 4 videos with 0 points, but I know I clicked, just wayyyy too early.

Hi,

Sorry if it seems daft (probably is), but is the GOV website the only way to book your theory test?

Only because I’ve seen online that there are other ways (slightly more expensive) to book and promise for a shorter waiting period, on the GOV it’s months away and don’t really want to wait that long.

My question is, the more expensive websites are they held at the same centres? Are the centres on the GOV website run by gov employees? How does it work? Is it legal etc?

Many thanks,
